I-45 south of Centerville going into Houston. DPS likes to hide behind trees & shrubbs in the median area, damn sneaky bastards.

I don't know Rio Vista, but Pantego and Dalworthington Gardens are NOTORIOUS. They are small townships in Tarrant county, around North Arlington/East Fort Worth. These two are the perfect examples of municipalities which generate significant portions of their annual revenues by issuing tickets to non-residents.

Dalworthington Gardens even goes so far as to have DWG stickers that residents put on the back of their vehicles... ostensibly as a matter of community pride, but actually so that if a cruiser pulls up behind it, they can easily differentiate residents from non-residents.

    Revenue Assessors:
    - Rollingwood, a small municipality inside Austin. They trick their commuters by setting up traps, such as construction signs where it states "traffic fines double" but forget to include "when workers are present" just below. This comes handy around Christmas time when they need the extra revenue. They are notorious for stopping you going 37 in a 35.

    - Meadows, in Southwest Houston. This place will pull you over for 31 in a 30. Yes, that narrow of a margin. I purposely go 20mph, and the same through Rollingwood, for the purpose of annoying the locals & police.

    - Bell & Caldwell counties seem to be notorious for their revenue assessing and collecting programs. Recommended lawyers are offered to ease their speed-taxing purposes.

TIP: when driving in rural Texas, don't even think about disabling the X band on the V1. They'll getcha!

That's all I can think of at the moment without digging up my file folders of tickets and bringing up stories that just make me upset.

Oh, and I'd also like to take this time to thank those officers in Ft. Bend County (sorry dad) that charged me with a ticket for an accident. Not in person, but on my record so many years ago - when I was a passenger and the driver died!

Should I go over APD's nuances? or Sugarland's incompetent "look out, cause they are going to hit me with their car" police? Nah, I'll skip em.

Whites Chapel Rd runs south from 1709 Southlakwe Blvd. Unaware locals pushed a reduction in speed limit from 40 to 30, I got caught in a dragnet by multiple police cars. When I expressed surprise to the policeman, I could hear his disgust at the speed reduction. I guess some policemen don't like speed traps either.

In Trophy Club, don't be impressed with wide, divided parkways. The speed limit may be as low as 20. And the speed limit signs are not especially large either. The cop that stopped me must have exceeded her quota and was expecially gleeful at nailing an out-of-towner.

And here's a goodie: Traveling with a recently purchased "Texas Weslyan Law School" license plate frame on her car, a member of my family was pulled over in cowtown, Ft. Worth. Now if any of you know how proud to the point of being unbearably obnoxious Ft. Worth boosters can be, I am surprised the police elected to issue a ticket for this offense. But a ticket is revenue.

I wonder if the city of Ft. Worth should refund the sales tax revenues they receive from the sale of license plate frames? After all, those frames aren't intended to go on tricycles.

    -Jerry Lee Phillips
Hurst, TX- Oh, look up as you pass under the Hurstview overpass while driving west on Airport Freeway 121/183. One of Hurst's finest may have a radar gun pointed down at you!

I30 can be pretty bad at times.
That's I30 between Rockwall and Mt Vernon (tx hwy patrol)

I take this drive often on the way to our lake house. There are either zero cops or it is patrolled heavy. If you see one, you might want to set your cruise control for the rest of the stretch.

Those of you in the Houston area or those who are Aggie fans probably already know this, but the City of Montgomery gets routinely investigated for over zealous ticketing. (It seems that they occassionally even tag a local!).

Montgomery is a small town of 500 souls that sits astride Highway 105 and Highway 149. Because some of the best driving roads in the Houston area are nearby, most of us go through there on back road drives. Slow it down, big time.

ps. Montgomery is the birthplace of the Texas flag.

Actually Southlake is a Nanny town with good reason. So the cops have a mandate to stamp pout all speed around the high schools where virtually all driveable kids attend with major HP, some large egos and with a football fanaticism that borders on the religous. So beware of all streets around Southlake Blvd as the limit can change from 55 to 45 for not reason other than the posted sign.

    BTDT and currently serving probation!

Drove out to MSR today and was hit with instant on laser on 377 in Benbrook! Thankfully I was pulling a trailer and was only going about 70 in a 60 so I had time to slow down. I saw the car before he shot me.

What is the world coming to when the Benbrook police is out using laser?
