In the boot/trunk of my 308 there seems to be a securing post on the section behind the rear number plate. Is this for the tool roll and jack kit? What kind of strap held them in place? Anybody got a pic of them in situ? I seem to remember seeing a photo of them in this position somewhere. Thanks, Graham.

Yes it goes behind the licence plate area. There should be a clip in place that holds the $500 rubber bungee cord that you seem to be missing. Sorry, I cant take a photo for you, as my 308 is in the deep freeze storage. Actually, the manual shows the tool and jack kit in the front boot

i keep my jack kit bag over the spare wheel and the tool roll in the trunk, on the left side in the hole. Do not keep it on the right side hole of the trunk as you could damage the antenna when the antenna is displayed

Well after a bit of digging around in the boot/trunk I spotted the end of a rubber strap. It had got trapped behind the fiberglass panel on the front wall of the boot/trunk. With a little bit of force but being careful to not split the fiberglass I was able to pry the fiberglass open enough for the strap with hook on the end to come free and now the jack kit and tool rool are happily secured in the trunk as shown in my owners manual. Thanks for the help in identifying what to look for.
So next mystery where should the emergency light be kept?

In my Testarossa it is in the jack pouch like the fuse/bulb round case.

BTW on earlier 308 the Tools are set on the driver side strapped to the bracket on the wheelhouse.

On my 308, that's where it was, tucked in with the jack. Didn't even know it was there until I heard about them and dug around for it.

I have that diagram in my 328 handbook as well, but there is no means of securing the kit in that location. I just had another look to make sure I didnt miss anything. No securing strap or anything there.

Uhm.....I've not looked closely at a 328 maybe it has a different system?
I thought I was missing the strap but managed to find it. The rubber strap is secured at the the top of the front wall of the boot and has a hook on it. It wouldn't be easy to lose as it's very well secured and is very heavy duty rubber. Then there's a securing post riveted at the base of the boot for the strap to hook around.

Although all these diagrams and lists are online, these original books are great collectors items. If an original 328 parts book ever comes up I would be very tempted to buy.

I have to admit I have the collector mentality.
