Like in the picture here, most cars come with these plastics over the carpets when they are new or re-sold at high end dealers. I'd like to cover my carpet with these, where could I get some from?

Any auto body supply or auto paint store should have 'crash wrap'.
Comes in a roll and you cut to size.

"Plasticover" comes on rolls like the dealers use. Amazon sells that and some other brands.

Does it "stick" on like the ones on new cars do? If I drive the car I dont want to be kicking it around and bunching it up etc.

It sticks. I got mine from my detailer. They pull right off when you desire it.

If this is a car you will keep for a while I'd consider getting some aftermarket mats that will either replace the factory mats (store them until you sell it...if that is in the car's future) or be placed over the factory mats to protect them. I bought a set of custom leather mats for my Bentley GT-C and use them over the factory mats to protect them. They are well made and look rather sharp to boot. I purchased them from exoticare.ca. I was able to order them with contrast stitching that matched my car's interior. I have used the plastic in a previous vehicle but I felt it defeated the purpose of visually enjoying the car. If this is a car that will be used/owned for the short term I understand the value of the plastic versus investing in pricier leather mats.

I have a fair condition set of OEM mats, and a set of custom aftermarket Ferrari logo mats that came with the car. I am looking for an added level of protection on the carpet underneath, and also up the sides and rear as well.

Plus, I know it sounds silly, but the plastic makes the car look and feel new to me and onlookers :)

Kind of reminds me of the plastic covers my grandmother had on her couch:) Like a carpet prophylactic ... maybe better to just enjoy unless you're "saving the car for the next guy"

Also, I left the covering in place on my Silverado "work truck" I use for errands and hauling our quads, etc., and it actually didn't work out well and with heat etc., kind of messed with the carpet. Would have been better to have removed it.

Looks like the same plastic wrap sold at home improvement stores that are used to cover carpets in new homes to orotect the walking paths when realtors are showing the house. Stocky on the bottom but leaves no residue when removed.

Why do you think more people don't do this? The potential problem is that there is moisture in the air, etc. (evidence by the need for a defroster, etc.), and that moisture will become trapped under the plastic as the ambient temperature fluctuates within the car. As I eluded in the previous post, it doesn't end up working out too well. Floor mats is where its at. I wouldn't waste your time on the carpet prophylactic idea IMOP.

just drive the car and enjoy it...plastic on the carpet is really going overboard on saving it for the next guy.

What kind of car ? if its a 360, maybe you should do that and sell it to me when I wear out my current 360.
