I was annoyed when I found a large screw in my front left tire and heard a whisper of a leak. Not that big a deal right? Then as I pulled the wheel from the car and rolled it to my right, I felt the scene change to ultra slow motion as the tread slipped accross my fingers and the wheel slowly began to lay over, my cry of NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO reverberating from my man cave to the outside world, echoing through the rolling hills, startling countless cats, dogs, horses and neighbors. A trusted friend came to my aid, only to find me distraught and weeping over what was previously a perfect example of a 12 year old wheel. The scuffs from this one incident were horrible. Now I need a place that I can trust to do a refinish.

I live in podunk, and have no good option nearby that I can find. I'm close to Louisville, KY, but don't know of a place there. Can anyone recommend a place I could send it off to for a quality job?

    Thanks,

    Geno

I'm sure there is someone closer to do this, but you could send it to Ferrari of Atlanta and they can fix it. They charge about 100 per wheel to make them perfect. They have guys that come from somewhere else and do them, but they do really good work.

Talked to Mark. The flat rate is now $145.00. It's going out today. Thanks very much for the tip. This forum is great.

I spoke with Dan there several weeks ago based on recommendations here and came away impressed. His price estimate for a 'concours' finish was very reasonable IMO and, most importantly, he understood what I was looking for.

Yes, I know that they have someone else come in and do them. Since he is going to mail it off and trust what comes back, I think this is the best option. What you get with FOA is someone to manage the process that knows what the wheel should look like. If you just send it off to someone who may have 400 Kia rims along with yours, you may get whatever quality he feels like turning out that day. I'm sure these guys value the relationship with FOA and this is what you pay extra to get.
Having said that, I've never heard of either of those companies turning out bad work. I just like to pay extra for my lack of involvement in things like this... :)

Wow, I'm wading through that old thread right now. You've got me scared to death. Good info, though. FOA won't get the wheel until Wednesday. I'm going to call them tomorrow and discuss the process used by the guys who do it for them. If they tell me Wheel Wizard is doing it, I'm gonna s**t.

i got news for you... magnum collision (as well as doing them themselves) and most of all the other shops also send wheels to the wheel wizard to get fixed. butler tire and most of the dealerships also. they are they only place in town that i know of that has digital lathes and various other equipment to fix bent, curbed wheels. it all depends how much work is required. buckhead collision and pirkle can also do wheels if all you need is a paint job.

fwiw, i sent a wheel to magnum and didn't think they did a great job. i took it to WW to get it perfect.

when i send a wheel in i expect it to return as "NEW" front to back.

This is why you use someone like FOA. Your dealing with a very established Ferrari dealer and not someone who put together enough cash to buy a van and a wheel finishing franchise. I haven't heard of anyone who says the service at FOA has F***ed them over. They may be expensive but they have gone out of their way several times for me.
I wouldn't worry about it, and I've seen several 355 wheels come out of there perfect and stay perfect.

Nothing against FOA...they use a sub contractor and I'm sure the warranty is very very limited.

You can use a refinisher that does top notch work and is willing to stand by it for lifetime...quality and integrity doesn't cost anymore

Old post, I know, but is this still the best recommendation for a 355 wheel refinish? I have 4 that really could use some help.

I've sent many people to NJB Automotive in Westerville , OH. I don't know who does the work for them, but lots of satisfied customers.

    What about our sponsor Bradan?

They are more than familiar with the process to protect the magnesium.

I've had a few sets of challenge wheels redone by Ferrari of Houston, they have an in-house paint shop and are very good with magnesium. Flawless end result every time.
