Anyone know where you can get the replacement seat covers for the 348 Challenge? This will be my third pair. I was lucky to find some on ebay several years ago with the 348 Challenge logo on them.

When I last inquired (several years ago) they were no longer available, but OMP would sell you the covers without the logo. I've thought about buyng a set, taking a digital photo of the "348 Challenge" logo, and having someone embroider them, but have been too lazy to do so yet. In the unlikely event that you find any NOS, I'd be happy to buy a set too.

My seats where recovered in a nice sturdy black material by the last owner and he had the logo stitched but I would be interested in obtaining red covers also. I have one of the originals in a box somewhere. Ira, we may be able to use that one as a sample for the logo.

Good idea. One of these days when I have some time, I'll dig out the information on the OMP covers and try to line someone up to embroider them- hopefully we can get several sets . . .

Hey guys, I am working on a website for all things Challenge, and this will be part of it-where to find the parts we need. I have sent an email off today to Gabriel at OMP America in Miami to find out about replacement seats covers as well.

I also met today Jerry Noone who is a wizard for interiors. Jerry moved to SC from CA to be a project manager for a new hot rod style truck that has been put on hold, he liked SC and relocated here. Jerry's been on multiple Speed programs as the Rod Rod stuff has been popular, however, he has done 166B, etc, and is top drawer. I may have him do the seats as well, and create patterns, etc.

I have another 348 seat logo that has the outline of the car as well. I believe these were used in the series, and will have him reproduce these.

Note the seat belt harness covers I used to keep my belts from cuting the seat on each side. It works!

Who made these? They look great. I was thinking of doing mine in black due to how poorly the red ones wear. Will you share the approximate cost and the time frame for completion? That being said I would like to keep it somewhat original.

The seats were recovered by the former owner so I do not know where he got it done or how much it cost. I will try to reach out to him and get that information. He travels quite a bit for business so it is hard to get a hold of him.

I need to get my 355CH seats done too. But i don't want to use the material OMP used it stains to easily and can't be cleaned. Keep me in mind if you find a solution.

OMP has been very helpful in all regards except having the covers. Looks like I'll be talking to Jerry Noone about these...

    David,

Due to the fact that the seats are very old, OMP doesn’t produce covers for them anymore. It is very rare to find these still in good conditions like yours. The best option, in case you don’t want to buy new seats, is to try find someone locally who may be able to produce that for you.

    Thanks,

    Danilo Oliveira.

Anyone know where we can get the orginal matterial? Alcantera is $100.00 per yard, but a yard should go a long way. Then I noted the thread about Alcantera fuzzing up...

I found the original material. It is sold by OMP. You can purchase it at Pegasus racing for $149. It comes in 4x9 sheets enough for two seats in any color.

I know people like to be original but an FIA seat is only good for 5 years from its date stamp. Composites degrade in strength with time. Consider the worn covers as telling you its time for a new "safe" seat. Some of these cars are getting very old yet capable of significant speeds. IMO the challenge safety systems leave very little to be desired.

I called OMP yesterday to order a new seat. They said they do not sell the exact seat for the older challenge cars. It was discontinued. The new 430 challenge seat is exclusive to Ferrari. Typical!
The closest seat they sell is the WRC.

    David,
Bill Rhodes had his 355 Callenge seats recovered somewhere in the Charlotte area. They did a really nice job as I remember it. He is bringing the car up to the shop soon. Maybe I can call him and get the info before then. I'll snap a picture when he brings the car up.
