I was watching an episode of American Chopper the other day and they commented on how a certain part made the bike look "sick", which they meant as looked great! It made me think of how in America our youth culture have taken certain words which once carried negative meanings and changed them 180 degrees. For example, bad, sick, evil, mean, ect... Just when did this happen and why?

If it has to do with mangling language and common sense to make bad things seem good and good things seem bad, then it must have started with personal injury lawyers.

Maybe, because a "bad" injury results in a "good" PI case! How do you spell relief....C.A.S.H. ! ;)

Maybe it is just a way for the younger youth to have their own mark in the world and their own terminology. Didn't your generation have their own? Now I'm 34 and don't understand the meaning "sick"either but do remember growing up around the word "bad" meaning good.

Yep Phat is cool when used with the PH instead of the F. I have heard "tight" used before also. I think that means that it is slamming (oh there is another one)
