    Excuse my blindness but, where is the stereo in 458s?
    In all those pix and at configuration site i did not see anything resembling a radio/cd player, on the dash, under the ac controls which it usually is in Ferraris.

    I mean, probably you control the radio from the knobs and buttons back left/right side of the steering wheel, and the screen on the right of the rpm dial can show frequency and such, but where did you insert the cd for example!

    The slot for the CD-player is in the glove compartment.

    Really!
    I am not much of a music listening guy, especially while driving Ferrari but, isn't it a bit, well, uncomfortable, ergonomics vise?

    I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather have glovebox room.

    No no, the cd SLOT is in the Glove box, he is asking about the whole radio setup, that is built in wit the whole navi/entertainment system which is the right screen of the instrument panel. The controls for it come off the air vent right of the steering wheel.

    What ibesuc said was the first part of my qustion, thx for it btw.

    As for the second part, whether or not you listen to cd's in your car, consider this scenario;

    You are taking an early sunday drive with your wife/gf, she wants to listen to whatever and pops her fav cd, after getting bored with her, you drop her to her friends and continue for a more enthusiastic B road drive, however she forgot to take out her soothing and weeping cranberries cd (yes, i am old :)) and you want something more electrifying for the rest of the ride, what do you do, you pull over to change the cd in the glovebox?
    That is what i'm asking, hence unergonomic..

    Am i wrong?

    Plus, besides 16M's iphone/ipod head unit, which is only availible with a 16m (no option for Scud in EU afaik), i do not like to plug something to the stereo unless there is a stabilizer/bracket to hold it in place, which there is not at least a standart/optional Ferrari item.
    An to the guys who are surprised that i still listen to cd's!, as a hardcore pc user for personal and work, i do not like apple software anywhere near my computer (no offense), even for uploading/downloading songs, so i prefer to buy actual cd's from shops or play mp3 cd's.

    Well most Mercedes, BMWs, Audis etc. have their CD changers in the trunk. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure the CD player in the glove box is a 6 CD changer, hence enabling them to hide it. Just how it works.

    If the thing in the glovebox is 6cd changer, it'll be a waste of space in my opinion, considering the glovebox is already small.
    But then, its more acceptable than pulling over to change just 1 cd, to store 6 at a time.
    Still i think that trunk is a better place for cd changers.

    So depending on limited knowledge, either;
    standard 458 hifi do not have a "single" cd slot, interesting considering ipod head unit is not standard,
    it has and its in the glovebox, uncomfortable (the 6cd changer in the trunk),
    or,
    no single cd slot and 6cd changer is in the glovebox, waste of space..

    I am not obsessed with that or anything, just seemed strange and wanted to learn..
    Better call and ask my Ferrari dealer on monday :)

    cheers..

    There's only one kind of music you want for the spirited B road drive. The CD player is for when you're stuck in traffic with nothing to do except wait.

    Ok, so i checked a 458 today at the dealer, in case you were wandering;
    The single cd slot is in the glove box, which is really small, however, although it looks like a single cd player, it takes 6 cd/dvd's back to back.
    There is a usb cable for smart-disc/hdd (standard) and an apple/ipod cable (option).

    This is the standard setup (bar blue-tooth & ipod cable) but an upgraded optional hifi is available with sub in the middle of the seats.

    cheers..

    The sub is no longer in between the seats. They are nicely integrated into the rear panel just below the window. (not my photo)
