Fair enough Rick, but I double dare you to deal with this guy...triple dare you. As I said in the past, it didn't hurt me like it would others, but others should know. I saved many of our brothers. Someone on here said his shop is full, well, eventually it catches up. If not, oh well, he'll never see my cars again and I spend alot of money on my toys, alot more than he took me for. After hearing speedracers story I hope someone like Tony doesn't take the joy out of the ownership from someone who has earned their Ferrari. I love my F car and the whole experience. My experience at Modena doesn't haunt me but every time I bring up in conversation about F shops to fellow f owners, I get the opportunity to feel good about doing the community a service. I will continue to do so. My .02
From what ive heard, his shop is full because he is working on so many cars at one time. Many have their cars in there for years and years. Some are over 5 years. Imagine having your car in there that long and getting it back with problems.
They do and they will. After spending over 45k putting 1800k on it and it cooking two exhaust valves? At least with mine and a dozen other stories I've heard, it is a consistant story. I had to go through some learning curves with swapping my engines and so-on but I am having a blast working on them. Got my heads back 2 months ago and put them on threw the engine back in and, MAN ALIVE, it's like brand new. If you can I recomend doing the work yourself, You'll still do a better job than that clown.
thanks for the dare jeff but i have my mechanics ,so i think im good for awhile it does beg the question though, we are blessed here in Ontario with more than one or two great shops .... how many bloody cars are in the city is what amazes me ... no wonder prices on these things have tanked.
I still think there should be a "Share your bad experiences" sticky. After a few negative comments you'll see how some learn to fly straight. Ebay has been doing it since day one so it can't be a bad thing. Epinion dot com, trip adviser along with many more have been very successfull with this strategy and it's for our own protection. Best thing of all it will give shop owners a chance to make good with a disappointed customer and keep things on the up and up. I remember a bad experience someone had buying a car from Zahir years back. He / she went public and it wasn't long before everything got straightened out. I strongly believe if it wasn't for F-chat this first time owner's situation may never have been resolved. Secondly, after hearing that this dealer did everything in his power to resolve the issue I wouldn't have second doubts buying from him. Shady mechanics / dealers that refuse to show their face on here or make any public or private attempt to resolve discrepancies that their clients have just don't deserve to get our business. As far as I'm concerned it is the responsibility of the individual taking your money regardless of the type of transaction, to ensure that you are completely satisfied and that there should be no surprises that you haven't been previously been made aware of.
^ Rob, here is my concern on this when it comes to ferrari's .... i have been in this game for many yrs now -15 plus .... there have been manyan owners that bought a "crapbox" and brag they got a "deal" and then quickly found out they got a deal alright ... and when heard the price to get it fixed , just about crap themselves.... some are in these cars that should not be ... as a matter of fact, some should not be driving but actually taking the "red rocket". So, when they fix a la cheap - or Mcguyver a car, guess whose name they use to repsresent the crappy car they have ? yes, the shop on the only invoice they have for the car as they try and unload it. I have heard crap about every single mechanic in this city that works on ferrari, not one of them have been untouched. in some cases i think the shop could shoulder more responsiblity .... but there are others that have no business in these cars, and they go around blaming shops....hence why i think a sticky would not work, in a few yrs, i think we all (as owners) would have to go and find a new mechanics. At the end of the day , its alwas buyer beware... and your shop may not treat me as well as you, or vice versa ... its crappy all round situation for all. But if you do get enough people banning together, it shouldnt take long to weed out th infidels cheers brother !
Well there are still some oblivious owners out there. I talked to a guy a couple of weeks ago and he told me he had two older Ferraris (mondial and a 3X8) and when I asked him where he serviced them, he said "this Tony guy up around 27 and steels" I almost chit my pants as he then told me that he takes both his cars there. He did not have a clue about any litigation that is going on. He is not on F-chat either. I told him that he should do himself a favour and check it out and also read this thread from the start. It would seem that its only a matter of time before his doors are shut for good but in the meatime some are still letting him handle their babies.
Wow this is eye opening thread. I just got a 308 gt4 and want to take it in for the timing and get the carbs adjusted which is a fairly basic job for a moderately experienced mechanic. But this thread has scared me ad maybe I should just do it myself. I know my way around engines bit thought it would be good to let a pro do it the first time round. Rocco's name has been mentioned allot here for these older cars but now I'm a bit nervous. Not about him specifically, just in general.
Rock's a good guy. I dont doubt you know your way around a motor. But think twice before you get in there. *heh thats funny because it reminds me of...nevermind* No but seriously there are a few good guys out there. But you gotta do your homework as it seems you are. Enjoy your Dino!
congrats on the GT4, please remember to update at Peter's http://www.dino-gt4-registry.com/ Re: timing and carbs, what it takes will depend on who and what was done before. I can attest to Rocco's skills first hand, whatever work I can't or won't do myself on my 308GT4 is done there. Excellent value and quality. Gerrit http://dino308gt4.com Have you hugged your car today?
is he? good, always used to complain when people asked me for advice and would say i'm promoting my business! How in the hell is someone else asking me something me promoting anything?! and isn't Mezza Notte a restaurant at Avenue and Davenport?
No, that restaurant is somewhere else iirc. I am sure google knows for sure Dav and Avenue is Sotto Sotto, Mistura, Spuntini etc...
Yes, but your statement doesn't make sense because I haven't commented on anyone's post count (other than PAP's but it was in good fun)
Seeing as the fall is here and some may be thinking of bringing their Ferrari to someone to work on over the winter, I feel a bump is necessary for this thread.
Time to take our hats off to the poor saps who don't subscribe to f-chat and are about to get fleeced winterizing their ferrari at the most famous scam shop in Canada.
C'mon Mike, you've read the thread. If you haven't you should, just in case you breakdown in the HWY 27 and steeles area. >8-0

That didnt take long to figure out! Incredible job, the car is absolutely transformed and Paul is great to work with. Best followup and communication that I have ever seen! The attention to detail, as you can see in the pictures, is what I liked the most.
