I have - I visited Datyona (and have spoken with Alex quite a bit over the phone), Forza, Tweaks Performance, Ferrari of Ontario. At each visit I asked several questions and compared notes for each and their responses. I would like to visit Rocco and a few others in the next few months. These are the only ones I know of, so if you have any more shops that you think I should visit please list them (PM if you wish)

I have consulted with fellow FChatters who live in the GTA and asked for recommendations - the recommendations vary between Daytona, Forza, Rocco, and Tweaks Peformance.

I am open to suggestions for anyone, I just want to choose a shop that I can trust to do the job right without taking any shortcuts and taking advantage of me because I have little experience with this....but after going through this thread the top three look like (in no particular order) Daytona, Forza, and Rocco.

I have used both Rock's and FoO and both provided me with great service.

I was very pleased with FoO... brought the car for service in the spring - paid what they said I was going to pay from the beginning... I've been to one of the mentioned places (close to FoO) and I did not like the fact they couldn't give me a straight answer almost like... come and bring it in and we will see what it needs. Run don't walk!

To my surprise when I picked up my car at FoO, I noticed that a long time scratch on the driver door was mysteriously removed!! Thank you FoO. Yes these extra touches might be included in my service costs :)

Would you rather visit a doctor or a specialist? I don't understand why F owners try and save a buck with their F cars ... once you get the full F experience you will never go back to the small time shops.. all the best to those who try.

It's all about relationships and who you trust. If you keep asking yourself who will be better at this or who will be better at that then you don't know your stuff and you shouldn't own one of these cars. Those are the type of people that the bad apples in this thread love to take advantage of.

Do your own research and investigate the true cost of ownership. Don't wait for somebody to tell you how much something will cost. You should already have an idea before you even take it in for service. As long as you are realistic with yourself and build in a buffer you will be fine. I'm almost scared to sell my car to somebody, as looking at the service records and invoices will probably scare them off.

At least FoO are true to their initial estimate,no surprises that will deplete zeros from my bank account.....

F-man you should know, that a complete belt service for that car $2500 is just to get you in their bay, then look out and if you are lucky triple that amount will be needed to get that car home.....you should know that by now.

some need to remember that foO today is not the same foO of 13 yrs ago .. they have improved... but again, what have they improved with ? its the new cars... i still dont think they can fix a dino or bb 512 as well as a specialized shop ... the newer stuff - you bet... so you really need to compare apples to apples on this one ... and its good to hear some good feedback from our local dealer.

Frank at FoO only works on old school Ferrari's and is very good at it, oil change to ground up restoration no problem......And I do agree specialized shop for our older cars is the way to go if you want them repaired to original condition like the the day they left the old country, for me Rock's and sometimes FoO work well for me to keep my car 100% original.

I've only had my car since April, but I have had good experience with Rocco at RMP Motors. He did a preinspection, oil change, and he took the time to chat to me about things to keep an eye on (ie cracked headers). He drives a 348.

I went to him because he was a referral from another Ferrari member. He seems like a decent honest guy who knows his stuff.

He's doing my major service next spring.

I was going to get Rocco at RMP to do my major on my car, but I wound up doing it myself. He was very helpful & made a few suggestions. From what I've seen both Roccos are very good & I know some guys that use Forza & have good results. I would have no problem using Brett either & have recommended him in the past. Alex is also on the top of my list. I have used FOO ( although they could be more expensive) but they do a great job & have great customer service in my experiance. One day I stopped in at FOO to return a shirt I took home to try on. I had it in the trunk of my wifes Alfa spider & when I went to open the trunk, the cable broke. I spoke to David (SM) & he had me drive car in at Franks bay area who instantly removed an interior panel & opened trunk. The cost for this?? NO charge.

Any shop can make a mistake but it's the way they deal with it that makes their reputation. Some may find a problem quicker than others due to their expertice or maybe even luck. The main thing for me is honesty & good communication.

well, lets not forget about Frank...whose certainly as well versed as they come on the old stuff...he did all the work on my 400 way back in '91...
but i'll take your word for it, Rick, that they've completely changed their tune...only because i have have so little interaction with them...
if i had to choose sides then i would agree that they've changed from the way they were years ago...and yes, it's great to hear good things about 'our' dealer...
and it's been 13 plus years of continuous ownership for me too....spread over many models.

great post Mario...and thanks...my best to Lucia.

Look man, I telling you guys what I was told from a credible guy, he had NO problems and wasn't shammed. The city isn't the be all end all certainly for car service. I used to get my porsches serviced at Downtown Fine then at Eurotune in Mississauga. I then discovered Furtmar in Kitchener. That guy could school any tech when it came to P-cars.

I've never had a good experience at the f-car Stealer. Downtown Fine had the most class of any dealer I've ever dealt with. Trouble is, their iron is like a dead F*&* compared to the firey mistress exotica of f-car.

Right dude. I have spent money with FOO and their quote did not end up being the final tally. If they were so "honourable" why would other shops be sooo busy? If they were so great why isn't everyone going there? I have spoken to Remo many times and I will reserve my public judgement. I like to give independent shops business, I am about relationships and have had good experience with 99%. I would not have disclosed my personal experience with Modena Sports cars except that I think the brotherhood deserves to know what is out there so you should be thankful.BTW it was downtown Lambo that referred me.
Don't bother being condesending to me, l i t tle one.

Relax big guy, I was not trying to be condesending believe me f-man,I thought since you own a 355 and to get a complete engine out service on that car you would need alot more then $2500 thats all or am I wrong ?...... and we are lucky that we have both an authorized Ferrari dealer and few other shops for service, competition is great thing for us plus with over a couple thousand Ferrari's in the GTA FoO would never be able to handle the work load themselves.
    And btw I'm not so l i t tle........have a nice day fman.

That's an easy question.... There are people who shop for designer brands and people who shop for knock offs... There's fast food joints and fine dinning... Not everyone can appreciate the experience....

Well if one has never known real class, one cannot distiguish between what is and what isn't. That, Joint... and its ownership lack the finer ingredients. If you believe that you are attaining the heights of "the experience" there, you are a sheltered one indeed.

Decided to try FoO for my annual service and I could not have been happier. I usually get a questionnaire from Audi Canada after I take my car in for service. If there was one for FoO I would give everything 5 stars. For those who have had issues with them in the past, perhaps you should try them again.

You know, the last two times I was there at FOO, (once to get an emergency oil filter), I noticed not too many cars in their shop. Price parts out of there... the knife is still being sharpened when you are seen coming. The principles that have guided that shop may have receeded somewhat given the state of our Economy, but the underlying phylosiphies are alive and well and, not too far below the surface.
