I want to rent a big house with a pool and within (short) walking distance to a nice white sand beach ( calm shallow waters) so my 4 grandkids can play, along with my kids and other relatives.
Can you nice people recommend a few places please? Thanks!

    Couple of defining questions.

How long do you want to rent for?

Gulf of Mexico of Atlantic Ocean? well, okay calm water, white sandy beaches would mean Gulf side to me, but I live on the Gulf side, so I may be prejudiced.

How many bedrooms? Needs to be near a real airport so everyone can fly in and NOT have to drive 2-3 more hours to get there?

We were just having this discussion in a thread in Silver subscribed. Gulf Coast - the thoughts were Siesta Key (Sarasota area) or Naples which is a couple hours farther south. Siesta Key has beautiful beaches, Sarasota has plenty of good things to do and restaurants. If you're feeling adventurous, Sarasota is a couple hours away from Disney, about an hour from Tampa.

https://www.siestakeyluxuryrentalproperties.com/ I have not used these folks but they do seem to have access to some lovely properties.

    hi there

    yes GoM side not Atlantic
Probably 5 days minimum to 7 max
Timing is likely early August.... assuming no big storms nearby
4 to 5 bedrooms plus some sofa-beds for teens
Up to 2 or 3 hours drive from airport to the house

I also am very interested in having a Cook for preparing lunch and dinner
I have had that luxury on my 60th BD and it was fantastic NOT having to cook/grocery shop/clean up

    thanks!0

Siesta Key is a great choice.

I concur with Siesta and Longboat Key (LBK), but please be aware many locations, at least non-tower style or older homes, are still suffering from the very active hurricane season last year, particularly with regards to landscaping challenges.

We have a small collection of cottages (on a single property) on LBK that would normally be perfect for you, but only the two 1-bed/1-bath ones escaped surge and the other larger units are still waiting on insurance delays. Anything newer than 2008 was probably fine, or if on the second story or higher. Anything older, coin-toss. All the debris is mostly gone from Siesta and LBK, and the gulf waters look nicer than ever. The huge tourist-trap of St. Armand's Circle still looks like a ghost-town with many shops closed, but the restaurants have mostly returned!

You should be able to find homes on Siesta, Lido, St. Armand's or LBK though and there are lots of great dining choices downtown (food) and some with great ambiance (keys) and the beaches are all great, albeit, Siesta still has the best sand of any in Florida!

I frequent Indian Rocks Beach which is near St Pete. Nice beaches and plenty of places to rent (as long as you reserve early enough). Several restaurants in walking distance and many more less than 10 minute drive - north to Clearwater, a south toward John’s Pass. A few putt-putt courses for the grand kids, boat rentals or charters nearby,
You may even be able to find something big enough for the family right on the gulf…
    Good luck
    Happy 70th!
