NEED Chris to post his review of the F12 tdf before the Christmas break!
I can't wait for his review till after the holidays.
Need to start a campaign to hustle him to post it :)
    Please help.

We need another good driver (like we read from Randy Pobst from Motor Trend) to confirm that, when driven skilfully, this is a truly exceptional car.
(It is clear that the less skilled British magazine drivers, who only seem to be interested in filming big power slides, were lukewarm on the car overall).

Preparing an epic Christmas test would be my guess.

As I have posted before, top drivers and time will prove this car to be something very very special.

Chris has increasingly seemed focused on actually adding value with his reviews. Thus, my guess is that Chris is going to do this the right way, and that this might take some time and some meticulous work. I would think that Chris would immediately realize that this would involve driving both a TdF and the original F12 in the same test, and being in a position to report in detail on the differences.

    Just speculation, but we'll see....

Jethro Bovington recently reviewed the tdF in EVO. He is also a very good driver with quite a lot of experience. He gave the car 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Basically liked it a lot but the rear wheel steering implementation makes the car non-intuitive driven near the limit. Loved the drivetrain, but hey any F12 is great in that area.

Suspect that as a collector piece it will be a great acquisition. As something to drive, however, not so much.

Doubt you'll see many of these with more than 10K miles on the odometer in the next decade.

CH has driven it already but hasn't posted vid yet. I reckon he's just timing it all properly to maximize views.

    All power to him!

I bought an F40 stradale (i.e normal version compare to my GTE) with 5 000 km, then I sold it two years latter with 25 000 km as I considered this car as a real nice car to pick up my kids at school, to go from Paris to my country house at 500 km,...
So I will be looking for an F12 tdf soon, and I can promiss that I will certainly do more than 10 000 km with it in few years!

Sorry, but for the present I think your comments are ill informed. With what everyone agrees is one of the greatest ever drivetrains and a sound to die for, I think you will find yourself to be very mistaken. Just look at some of the US reports and wait for what Harris says. Read the posts, 4 laps, TC off for pics and cold tyres with what is a leap forward in techno terms. Very simply, Ferrari today, with all their expertise and knowledge would never launch something that could be described as a good investment but 'as something to drive, not so much' and we know the test drivers, those that have spent time with the car, think it is epic.

If my car has less than 10,000 miles on the odometer in the next decade, then I will be very surprised. It will be used in exactly the same way as my current F12.

Well, I've seen, touched, been in, on, under the TDF, and saw it being thrashed at Maranello and at Mugello. It looks like it's going to be great.

I've also spoken directly with the development drivers, and it certainly impressed the s_it out of them. (raised eyebrows and a deep exhale, followed by "it's really that good").

So, for me, so far, so good. Look forward to driving it.

The design approach is certain to be a bit different and controversial (i.e. massive front tires and mild software controlled RWS). As the drivers all said, most people will have to adapt their driving style to get the most out of the car, and many might be confused.

That's ok with me - I have to adapt my driving style from a GT car to a heavy aero prototype to a spec Miata. It forces me to keep my basic driving skills fresh, and that's where the fun of driving these cars comes from for me. (others may derive their enjoyment from other elements, like being seen or maximizing resale value).

I tend to use these road tests as entertainment, as most journalists are not the most skilled drivers, and in most cases, the introductory press days limit time in the car (it's mostly staging for photos and video). Pobst was good, Harris i'm sure I'll enjoy, but I'll wait until I can drive it to form my opinion.

Yes! There are far better ways to invest money, and with less risk. To gamble that by not driving the car it will be worth more, or that the collector market will be so strong in 20 years ... Just silly. My god if the thing can put a smile on your face, can stir your emotions, can MOVE you ... Then it is worth every penny of "depreciation". Enjoy her, sir.

10 yr old TDF with no mileage, about 5 times new value. Same car with 10,000km, probably about 3.5 to 4 times. If the market goes off, about 3 times and 2 times. What a disaster!

There was a 599 gto with over 100k km. Then there are some with just delivery miles. Depends solely on the intention of the owner, not the car.

Easy decision, and if not, to me you should not really have been allocated a car

Agree even if it is not an exceptional car to drive (and for sure in some ways it will be), anyone who gets an allocation should take it. Pretty much a no brainer.

For whatever reason, however, the initial reaction to the car is somewhat lukewarm. Whatever Harris says will not change that.

Worst case scenario is you have a fantastic Ferrari V12 in an aggressive package; given that the days of normally aspirated V12's may be numbered, it is sure to carry strong value long term - even if it drives awful. It is a limited Ferrari, after all.

    Best.

Agreement! I am also looking forward to CH review and I would also like to see him put in the 599 GTO also. I have no idea if this will happen and either way I know I will enjoy his review.

I see these reviews as a mix of information and entertainment. Ultimately someone else's opinion- however well judged it may be.

I've been checking for the video every day and I will continue to do so! :)

Maybe I am drinking the Kool Aid, but I don't see the reviews like that. The US and French reviews went crazy for it, especially the apparently difficult to please French reviewer and it was just the UK mags who gave it 4.5 stars, hardly a disaster. However you miss one important point. Harris was given proper time with the car whereas the other UK journos admitted they needed more time than 4 laps to get under the skin. Harris review will carry weight because he will be down to the bone.

Yes I know. But he so far has not done the review for the TDF and it would be an interesting review to incorporate the predecessor car if he can give both the proper attention and time.....

As much as I enjoy watching CH and his reviews, let's not forget that he is in the business of reviewing cars. Entertainment value is the main priority.

Drifting cars and whiskey talk are the order of the day.

Actually I'd trust the seasoned FChatters who have logged real miles (more than 50k) driving their cars, more than CH. (There are a bunch of Fchatters who post on and on, yet only drive their cars 1,500 miles before trading them because of the fear of losing money on them. Personally I find them and their posts annoying.)

But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy CHs videos.

And yes I want a TDF!

Looking forward to his review. When he did the F12 it was epic. He later said it was the best car that ever came out of Maranello. Hope he doesn't waste a bunch of time with the 599 in this review as the F12 Berlinetta is light years ahead. I'm interested in delta's off the recent best car. Specifically the effect of the rear wheel steering and the down force at speed and if the light weight comes into play.

If I remember correctly Harris LOVED the F12 in his 2014 Car of the Year video.

On that basis I presume he will love the tdF even more...

I recall that Harris was sufficiently enthralled with the FF that he owned one for some months. Not sure about the F12 but I don't think he owned one.

They'll grant him access to an LaF and a 458 Aperta, so why not the TdF? I think he can get pretty much what he wants.
