Hello everyone...New to the forum. Proud owner of a 348 ts..Think I have a bad fuel sender. Is it located in the gas tank, or where the fuel pump is? Any diagrams? Thanks

Remove the metal undertray infront of engine. The gas tank is above that and fuel sending unit on bottom of gas tank. The fuel pumps are mounted low on the front fire wall. Should be able to access from under neath once you remove under tray. Sorry I don't have diagram.

That's insane. A universal fuel level sender is only $29 and probably gives the same 33 ohm = full and 240 ohm = empty readings...

The prices came from Ferrari's sheet.

I think we all know there is no rhyme or reason to them.

Tell us what's happening with your fuel gauge, we might have some other ideas. Is it dead? Innaccurate? Stuck?

Or is it "I just put $50 worth of premium in there, how could it be empty again???"

It takes less than a minute to access the back of the fuel gauge and check the wiring connection. Do that first.

I don't think there is a fuse or relay that specifically controls the fuel gauge, so if your other gauges are OK, this isn't likely.

By any chance have you had one of those "pull the fuel tank to replace the timing belt on the quick" jobs done? They may have left the sending unit unplugged. Personally, I doubt if the sending unit itself is at fault, but it's possible.

Have to ask - how "dead" is it? I used to have a 348, and periodically, the gauge would just read empty, even though I just filled the car. Eventually, after driving around a bit, or after using up a quarter tank, it would magically start working again.

My 355 Street car suffers from the same problem from time to time. Very peculiar.

    vty,

Test your gasoline for alcohol ($15 unlimited use kit): http://www.kitplanes.com/news/news/7640-1.phtml

Alcohol interferes with fuel senders, and alcohol is so cheap that many gas stations "cheat" by adding it to their inventory without telling customers.

Oh, and here's a cool tip: you can use fresh squeezed lemon juice to remove the smell of fuel from your hands.
