I am located in the Bay area (south bay) and need to get a hold of Mark Spencer to look at the problem I have with my 85 308. The last time I saw him was when he came to my house last February. I called his cell phone number but he must have changed his number in the last few months. Can anyone let me know how to get in touch with Mark? If, for some reason, I cannot get in touch with him, I would like any other technician you can highly recommen in the south bay area.

Gone. No longer in business, last I heard. Unfortunately, I can't highly recommend anybody in the area, as I haven't had that much work done on my GT4 yet.

There is Johannes Huwyler at Dino Motors in San Mateo (650)571-0406, but that may be a drive for you. There is also Craig Burnworth of Passion Motorcars in San Jose (cell: (650)224-0447). Passion Motorcars is still getting started, but the couple times I spoke with Craig (in person), he seemed competent enough to work on my old piece. He did a pressure test on my cooling system and was very professional and fair on the price.

Hopefully, one of those two guys will be able to help you. Best of luck!

Thanks for the info on Mark and other places.

When I saw him the last time in February, he told me he hooked up with someone in LG (not Siliconix Valley Group) and working in his place. If he is totally out of business, I guess I have no other choices but to go to guys you mentioned. Maybe I will give a call to Passion Motors about my problem.
    Tahnks again for your help!

You can try [email protected]. Last time I checked up on him he was working out of the Porsche shop on McGlincey Lane (around the corner from the old place).

Someone said Mark has changed careers and is a headhunter now! If you're looking for a good independent (he's on the peninsula, not South Bay), don't forget Tony Palladino in Redwood City, 650-368-5819.

Well, I also tried to email him. Yes, he was working out of the Porsche shop on McGlincey Lane for awhile but no longer is there. I saw him after he had left that place and he told me he was working out of some premium foreign car dealer and its service garage. It was February this year. At that time, he was busy groing aroung the customers' places (inclduing mine) fixing their cars on sites. I just cannot believe he changed his carrer. A headhunter?? OMG! I dont believe it!

This was what I had heard as well... I couldn't remember exactly what his new line of work was, but as soon as I read your post, it clicked - "That's it!"

I called Craig Burnworth at Passion Motorcars yesterday and made an appointment for this Saturday. I will have to call the AAA to have them send out the local tow truck (flatbed) to San Jose. From talking to Craig, he seems to be a very down-to- earth kind of guy and had worked at Ferrari of LG. Hopefully he could be the THE MECHANIC to service my car going forward. Will share my experience with him once the service is done.

To follow up, I have dropped off my car at the Passion Motorcars (www.passionmotorcars.com) on Saturday on Saturday morning and was greeted by Craig Burnworth who is the very friendly and down-to-earth guy. He says he opened his shop about 6 months ago and the shop is very clean and organized. His credential seems to be good as his last job was working at the Silicon Valley Auto Group in Los Gatos for 5 years as a mechanic. He has the small advertisement on the Ferrari Letters, but I must say it is easily be missed if less attention is made. I am not sure if that is the reason, but he says he needs more customers while trying to keep it a manageable level. The shop had only one car (308GT4) when I got there. He is going to run a diagnostic test on my car before fixing the problem and will do an oil change. I will update about my experience with the Passion Motorcars as soon as my car is fixed. Stay tuned...

Well, I have finally gotten the car back from Craig at Passion Motorcars in San Jose on Saturday. The starting problem was caused by the bad starter, which he had recommended to be re-built to save some money. The brand new starter would cost around $600.00, Then, I asked for the oil change and the new Optima battery (red top). With all together, the charge was a little over $1,000 with the tax. I am pleased with the work he has done on my car and the car seems to run great so far. I will certainly go back to him for the future service needs.
