Hi guys. I'd like to re-introduce myself. My name is Bee Jay and I have a 1992 348ts. I used to be very active on this forum about ten years ago. Since then I bought a 2013 427 Corvette Convertible, and a 2022 C8 Corvette Convertible. So I non opped the Ferrari, and put it in storage for the last five years. I tried to start the car about every other month, and took it for a long drive (over 100 miles) every summer.
Well I just took the car out of storage and attempted to get it smogged and registered. It failed miserably. It's burning oil ferociously. At first I thought a stuck oil ring or leaking valve guide. So I replaced the injectors and spark plugs, and poured six ounces of Seafoam in each cylinder. I let it soak overnight, started the car and let it run for 20 minutes. Then I drained and replaced the oil and replaced the oil filter. I purposely only put in 10 liters to make sure the oil tank was not overflowing. Oil is still getting into the intake track somehow. I had the same problem with my Porsche recently, and it was an air oil separator gone bad. I assumed I had the same problem here, but I can't find the air oil separator or even a pcv valve. Is there one? How is oil getting into my intake? Yes I used the search function, and I'm here still perplexed. I was planning on driving this over the next year. Any ideas or advice.

If you put 10 litres, you certainly did not overfill the engine (provided you also drained the oil tank).

    The oil separator and PCV:

Could be valve guide wear, pretty common on older Ferraris. A leak-down test should confirm.

Not so sure . That’s a fuel thingy . If you sniff it it’s fuel not oil in there .

Spoke to my Indy recently as he had a new model V12 in with the engine out . Long story short they removed 4 L of oil from the induction apparatus. It was flat bedded in , started smoking within 40 miles from a franchised dealer service ( kids / apprentice/ un calibrated oil filler etc etc ) .*
See it a lot the results of overfilling . Warned me if were to DIY to under fill first then top up .

Said 348/355s are particularly prone . Remembering there’s the oil tank too to drain . = a lot get overfilled .

    * warranty invalidated bcz it had a aftermarket exhaust fitted . Car was 3 y old .
    Owner speaking to lawyers .

    ps don’t shoot the messenger.
