Starting my cv boot replacement but when I took the wheel off I only have a solid brake rotor. I assume the nut is behind it but I thought the nut held the rotor on?

For the rest of the community who does not have access to your PM, I assume your answer was...

Remove brake caliper...then press off the disk. Correct?

Jamie - I think your car may be an early one like mine so you don't need to remove the rotor etc :)

Ernie very kindly PMd some instructions as per below:

Just for reference (but as menioned above irrelevant in this case) this is what yours will look like with the caliper and rotor removed

I'm afraid I don't but easy enough to check if you have a set of allen keys -just remove your air box and they are quite visible

    Leave the wheel on,
    jack up the car
rotate the wheel to access all bolts
Hold the wheel (drop the jack until contact)
    Use a breaker bar
    "break" each bolt
    jackup the car
    turn wheel repeat

Then go back and remove all bolts

I am wondering if this axle has ever been apart. I got one bolt out and the others are just tight as anything I have ever seen. I am now just spraying pb blaster all over the bolts to loosen them up hopefully

Do I have to remove the entire axle to do the outer cv boot?

Thanks. I bought it three years ago with 124 miles on it. It's never been driven in the rain. Has 5,600 miles on it now, but still looks like this.
