Hi all. You have been an incredible resource thus far! Thanks. Does anyone know where the FM antenna is in the 360 coupe? My FM reception is terrible!! And if this is common, what's the fix? Thanks. -Matt
I had really bad reception. My audio guy found a faulty connection to the antenna. that solved the problem.
LOL When I bought my 360 the radio wouldnt work because I didnt have the code. I was planning on getting the code right away after my first weekend of driving I forgot about the code for the next six months. I finally got my code because I thought that I might need the radio for traffic info some day. I think that my radio has been on maybe twice while I have owned my car! As a musician I am a major music fan, but there is nothing on the radio like a F-Car engine right behind your ears!! Jim
Was poking around up behind the dash a while ago and remember noticing a standard looking aerial tied up neatly under the dash. Yes, it was connected to the radio (stock Becker unit)...which has always had good reception. Insert your body with the old reverse, upside down, backward with half twist under the dash and have a look. Would be interested to see if they are all like this???
Pulled the fuse on the back of mine so the girlfriend would stop turning it on......I kinda like the 3.6 liter sound system, at 6000+ RPM it puts out my favorite song!
According the the wiring diagram it is in the dash, not the windshield. That makes it a very clever design with it carefully placed in a Faraday cage, just like the antenna for the remote.
I just dropped the car off today for a clear bra, new stereo, new speakers, small sub, rear back-up camera, bluetooth, new radar detector (built in 9500 Escort) and a GPS locator (Escort Entourage). I am hoping the poor FM reception was because the previous owner had an external satellite radio hardwire FM modulated into the radio. Hopefully when I pull that modulator out, the reception will improve dramatically. It's HORRIBLE now. I can't pick up any of the super strong local FM signals, except the local Christian channel, which seams to be amplified by GOD it comes in so clear! Hopefully my guy will figure it out... I know a lot of you guys don't listen to the radio ever; and I respect that. And the engine IS a work of art! But sometimes I like listening to music as well. And if I do, I would like the experience to be as emotional as the drive itself... I'll keep you posted (pun intended)... -Matt
Matt Is the escort - the 9500ci that you are installing? If yes, (if ok with you to post) I would love to see some pics of where the components are being mounted at? I am planning to add the 9500ci to mine very soon Thanks
Yes, the ci. Will be glad to post as we progress. It'l be there about a week. Sigh. It came with a 7 year old K40. I hate K40's - sounds like a robot chicken having a nervous breakdown. The escort is supposed to be the best on the market. -Matt
A little dump of a place on Rt. 22 in North Plainfield called Zippos. it's mostly pickup trucks, minivans and buicks. They have done work on other cars for me. The managing installer, Anthony, is incredible and has tons of experience on high profile and exotic cars. Their prices are crazy cheap and their quality of installation is crazy good. I wouldn't have anyone but Anthony touch the car. He's a wizard with incredible experience and an even more incredible fund of knowledge. -Matt
I know Joe Zippo. Not the greatest place on earth but they turn out decent work. I was in the business for 10+ years and it is a small industry so we all seem to know/know of each other. So how did the install come out?
