Where is the gearbox number?

    Sorry for the basic question, but where would I find my gearbox number? Should I be able to see it from above the engine bay, or do I need to get a mirror underneath?!

    iirc far right trans mount near the pan

    If it is in the same place than on 328s, you have to go under the car, then look at the gearbox pan, on the rear of the lip of the casing (pan) passenger's side (LHD car).

    On my 308i it is right by the ground strap on the transmission case.
