I posted a thread about a 1951 FERRARI being fit with
a Corvette engine in this thread:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vintage-thru-365-gtc4-sponsored-redline-restorations/414309-corvette-engine-1951-vignale-bodied-2-6-ferrari-dont-silly.html#post142419393

The same magazine featured a D-type Jaguar
    being "improved"with a corvette engine.

(The articles are scaned and shown in the thread)

The Jaguar ws "blown" at Sebring, eventually bought
by General Motors (!?), and fell into the hands of an individual
    who undertook the conversion.

    No VIN was mentioned.

    1) Does this sound familiar to anyone ?

    2) Does the car still exist ?

    3) What would be the best JAGUAR web site
    to make these inquiries ?

    Cheers, Scott

I've never heard of that Scott, but it would certainly be sad IMO if a real D-type was altered in that way :(

The article says the Jag placed 3rd in the 1956 Sebring race. Jack Ensley had that D-type. It was SN XKD 538 and was also Ivory in color just like it is shown in the article. As of 2008, it was in the Simeone Foundation Museum.

Found in July 1960 mention of a D-Jag / Chevy
driven by Bill Krause that Qualified 2nd.

Perhaps this is yet another Jag / Chevy
    conversion, and NOT XKD536 or XKD538 ?

This particular is refered to under
    "Shelby took it easy."

There were several conversions of D-types and XKSS's. It was not that unusual in the early sixties.
