Where to buy an extended warranty for a 2010 Ferrari California

    Hi!
    Picked up a 2010 Ferrari California with less than 22,000 miles on it. 13 miles into driving it, gearbox issue (not a surprise). Went to get it checked out, found a couple of faulty reads but nothing major on the gearbox apparently.

    This makes me think I need to buy an extended warranty for this car. Who provides such warranty? Only a Ferrari dealer or can i get one from a third party?

    Do you guys know if it covers the DCT?

    The Ferrari "New Power" warranty covers the major components, including the gearbox, assuming the car will pass inspection at the dealer. The faults in the gearbox may or may not preclude them selling it to you, assuming you had the gearbox checked at the dealer.

    There are some other aftermarket warranties -- Fidelity, LaSalle -- but the best bet is to talk to the place where you are having the car serviced (dealer or otherwise) and ask what their experience with aftermarket warranties is.

    Generally, try to buy a warranty that details what it does NOT cover as opposed to what it DOES cover because you will find that there are expensive parts on a Ferrari (actuators, etc.) that will not be listed in the ones that detail what they do cover.

    The Ferrari warranty is not cheap -- $4k or so -- but at least you are dealing with a Ferrari dealer and they are dealing with Ferrari on your behalf. It does not cover everything that the new car warranty does, however.
