This wasn't a print ad. It was a television commercial:

This was more than an ad. It was the last "Official" photo that Enzo did. He was very frail at the time. There is a chair behind him. He stood for the picture and then sat back down. The photo wasn't done for Goodyear. The marketing for Goodyear is misleading (go figure) where it shows Enzo getting out of the car.

The picture was taken by the same Modena photographer that had done Ferrari work for years.

I had an original print of the picture hanging in my garage, but it is now in storage. The back is stamped with the name.

It can still be bought, but to my knowledge, only in Modena from the copyright holder. He isn't interested in computer type sales.

Kind of odd that Bob Hartmryer has it watermarked on his site, no?

I agree. I don't know him or his work. Maybe he bought copyright? Just guessing.....

    Definitely odd

Technically I'm thinking that wasn't Enzo getting out of the car, only a double. But that's more of technicality and an outright misstatement of facts.

It was a print and a video commercial. Still looking for a way to procure a print.

No kidding? That was a stand-in for Enzo??

BTW, I swear - and I will go to my grave believing - this was a second set of commercials for Goodyear. I clearly remember seeing one during the Superbowl in Jan 1984. It was slightly different but with a QV on a mountain road. I never forgot it. This would have been exactly the time Ferrari began using the NCT's...

It's definitely NOT a double - it's him. Maybe in the still because the cars are angled differently in the commercial (look closely).

There are definitely different versions / sets of the commercial - I remember this as well. On YouTube there are variants of the commercial above that show:

    a) just a Testarossa
    b) both a 328 and the Testarossa, and
    c) the F1/87, the 328, and the Testarossa

    FWIW.

If you mean when you see the foot coming out of the car? Then yes, I'll agree. But the man standing and laughing most certainly is Mr. Ferrari.

Yes. The foot coming out of the car. Or maybe not, maybe the film crew put him through the agony of getting out of a Testarossa. ;)

As tx246 pointed out, he was rather frail at that point. He needed help walking. Getting out of a Testarossa is not the easiest thing to do for a fit person let alone a 90 year old man.

Of course the head/body shots are the real deal.

I know that series had different versions but the one I remember was from almost 4 years before. I was in 10th grade when I saw the first and these were from years later when I was in college.

I have even gone as far as searching for original taped broadcasts of the superbowl to see it again. About 10 years ago I bought a few off ebay but the damn commercials were cut out.

    I'll find it one day.

Wow. Maybe you could find a commercial list somewhere to at least confirm Goodyear paid up for a Superbowl commercial in 1984. They would have good company. The most famous commercial in the world aired during that same Superbowl, Apple's 1984 commercial. Good stuff. :)

Since we're talking about 80's advertisement with Ferrari, when I saw this one back in the day, it took my breath away. Pure lust.

There was definitely one with a 308; I remember seeing it and my jaw hitting the ground. A year or so later it was the 328/then testarossA.

    Great ads!
Never been able to find the 308 one

Any chance an owner of that poster could have it digitally scanned and reprinted? Not sure of the quality it would yield...

I purchased this poster from an old french gentleman at the 2002 F1 at Indy for $5. He had a merchandise booth on one of the side streets away from the track. He was selling "stuff' not necessarily Ferrari based. I had a great time trying to communicate with him with my French really poor, non existent now, and his English, basically nonexistent. As i was leaving he gave me a 24 Hours of Lemans windshield tech inspection sticker for my 328. He then called me back and gave me a second which he said I would need in the future. And 5 years later he was correct as I purchased another Ferrari. Also, the poster isn't for sale.

John, we're working on getting reprints made in the 308/328 section. No need to be smug. ;)
