    Hi everyone!

A friend of mine from Vienna needs help with finding a "normally priced" jet to fly from LAX to Vienna, not necessarily non-stop for am unusual client. (Not sure what the ranges are on available jets)

A quote he got from an Austrian company was roughly 400K EUR. That's roughly 550K USD. Would this be a "normal going rate" for a flight like this?

Where should I look to get different quotes? This is a little out of my league here, so I'm not exactly sure where to look.

    Thanks!

LAX- Vienna? A G-V or Global should be able to do that nonstop. Anything else will be stopping somewhere, probably either eastern Canada, or Shannon.

I would guess around $350k USD for a US operator-- more if you use a European operator. If it were me, I'd call EJM (Executive Jet Management). They aren't the cheapest, but they are a solid operator-- and I have no affiliation with them. I could be way off, though. €400k seems in line with what I would expect from a European operator.

If you are willing to be flexible on schedule, you may be able to find an operator who will discount the trip if it's one way and they have someone coming back this way-- but for that kind of money, who wants to be flexible? Go first class on BA if you are flexible.

    Thank you for your advice!

I have forwarded it to my friend and will see what happens. I'm amazed by the prices
Unfortunately First Class is not an option - the "client" insists on flying on his/her own.

There should be lots of choices for charter with the origination in the LA area. Some that come to mind for me are Clay Lacy (Van Nuys), Avjet (Burbank), Elite Aviation (Van Nuys).

For this mission easy choices with 1 stop would be a Gulfstream IV, Challenger 601 through 605 or Falcon 900. If the passenger is willing to go with something smaller then look for a Gulfstream 200/Galaxy, Falcon 2000, Falcon 50 (check that it is 1 stop not 2), Challenger 300, Embraer Legacy and maybe a Citation X.

The larger the aircraft the higher the hourly rate. Be aware that there can be big differences between standard rates and "real" rates. I found some numbers by running a search " jet charter rates". Came across $5,500 for a G-IV and $4,300 for a Challenger 601. There are going to be all sorts of add on charges above this so be careful.

EJM is a quality outfit. I just don't know what they may already have in the LA area.

    Hopes this helps.

I take the hourly charge and double it to estimate the final bill, once taxes, expenses, surcharges, etc. are added. Probably more for a European trip, once you add ATC charges, ramp fees, etc.

We have used the Flexjet cards in the past for international travel. You pay no deadhead and there are no fuel surcharges as these are current prices, seems like half price to the other quotes. Please let me know if you would like a referral as I will get a benefit.

    FlexJet Jet Card Pricing
Yesterday Bombardier and Jet Solutions announced the pricing for the FlexJet Jet Cards. The price varies with:

1.the aircraft you want to fly,
2.the number of days in the year you would like to be able to travel. So with a smaller number of days you essentially say you're willing to avoid the peak travel days and the price drops.
3.the number of hours of travel you would like to purchase.

    The full chart is :

Aircraft Travel Days per Year 25 Hours 30 Hours 35 Hours
    Learjet 45 275 Days $134,900 $161,880 $188,860
    325 Days $145,000 $174,000 $203,000
    355 Days $155,000 $186,000 $217,000
    Learjet 60 275 Days $149,900 $179,880 $209,860
    325 Days $157,500 $189,000 $220,500
    355 Days $167,500 $201,000 $234,500
    Challenger 604 275 Days $219,900 $263,880 $307,860
    325 Days $235,000 $282,000 $329,000
    355 Days $255,000 $306,000 $357,000
