At the moment I am creating a list of all Ferrari models, and try to find the corresponding chassis en engine type for each model. Examples:

Dino 308GT4 : chassis type F106AL and engine type F106A
275 GTB 4cam: chassis type 596 and engine type 226.

For a lot of models this information can be found in literature like books related to the specific model, in magazines like Cavallino or in the user manual (available on the owners site) but for others I can' t find it.

Any suggestions where this type of info is available?

What chassis and engine types are you still looking for? Maybe this forum can help.

To give a few more examples: The engine type of the 208 GT4 is F106C (found this in the Bluemel book "Original Ferrari V8") but chassis type is unknown to me.

250 GT Lusso Berlinetta: engine type 168, chassis type unknown.

195 Inter: both chassis type and engine type unknown.

The only source I could think of which might help is the original Ferrari build sheets which are available on the owner's site. But perhaps somebody compiled a similar list already???

For the 250 GT Lusso I have chassis type 508.

For the 195 Inter I have chassis type 195 Inter and engine type 195.

OK, tried to get a build sheet via the owners site. Result: this is only possible if you actually own the car (no surprise there). So this really is not a feasible source of info. Any other suggestions?

The types I gave above came from the Building Sheets.

Yesterday I did some further research and found in one of the earliest copies of Cavallino that the chassis type of the 250 GT Lusso is 539....

According to the same source (Cavallino) chassis type 508 is of the 250 Europa GT, while there is also a chasis type 508C (250 GT PF cabriolet and 250 GT Spyder California), a 508D (again 250 GT Spyder California) and 508E (330 America and 250 GTE).

Since the 250 GT Lusso was build a few years later, chassis type 539 seems more likely. On the other hand, the words "Ferrari" and "logical numbering system" simply don't fit....

Series I 500 Mondials were tipo 501 chassis and S. II Mondials were tipo 510.
I am not at all familiar with tipo 500 or 504 chassis as having ever been made for a 500 Mondial - which cars are these? I agree w/ tipo 504 being for a 250 Monza.

In 1988, Gerald Roush had in the FML vol.13, no.8, his version of the factory's list of engine type numbers - and associated w/ each motor tipo, the chassis tipo. In that list he puts the type 107 motor (straight 4, 2.5 liter formula 1) with chassis type 500 - so not a 500 Mondial.

Type 504 in Gerald's list is associated w/ motor tipo 117, 3 liter v-12 (Colombo) for the Monza S.

This is what I could find up to now, mainly from Cavallino magazine. Anyone who can fill the gaps or perhaps clarify conflicting info with other lists???

Very helpful list - thank you.
The 290 MM is a type 520 chassis, not 528 (the same chassis type as an 860 Monza. The same chassis no. for both tipos, although one has a 4 cyl engine and the other has a V-12)
Has anyone any more numbers to add to this list (after all this time?)
    Nathan

The 250GT PF Coupe date should be 1958, chassis 508 and engine 128.
