In chasing down a sputter on my 308 i went to replace the coil wire and found one of the springs rusty and the other odd shaped (cone shaped) and it wouldn't go back in to the hole. As i tried to push the carbon tip back in the spring shot it back out and now i can't find it.

Where can i get new ones?

    Thanks.

They are supposed to be cone-shaped -- that way the spring is retained in the bottommost part of the hole and the coils don't rub on the walls of the hole. They are a little tricky to get in - helps to rotate it in the direction that makes it a little smaller diameter while pushing in.

    I see.
Spent a good half an hour cussing at the thing then just tried pushing the carbon tip down over it and the carbon tip is gone. The other was so rusty i think the end broke off and it wasn't cone shaped anymore.

Looks like the one. I see it on their site now. I wonder if the rust on the broken spring could be part of the misfire?

    Thanks!

I have used the spring and the sharp point screws from Lucus distributor caps for early 1960's MG, Austin Healey etc. They are exactly the same as the Marelli parts. One inexpensive AH 3000 cap will give you a spring/carbon bush and 6 spare screws.

BTW, I know how it is to lose one of those small parts. One of my screws dropped to the driveway and rolled down a crack in the concrete. I remembered similar screws from back in my Brit car days so I went to my local foriegn car parts store and bought a cap that had been on their shelf for years. They were glad to git rid of it for a few bucks.

Took a break of a day or two then went back to the project.

I still can't get the damn thing in there.
