Am looking for ORIGINAL, NO REPLICAS 16" wheels (7J front, 8J rear) for my 308 GTB QV, 1985. Can anybody give ideas where I could find these ? Many thanks, Franc
Many thx ! Will certainly check with T. Rutlands. I have seen some adds on ebay, but non that offer a complete 16" set.
Is it true that the original 16' wheels from a 308 QV are A)hard to find B)made of magnisium and C)very expensive?
The short answers are yes, yes, and yes but regarding B, I've only seen the material referred to as "light alloy", and I have a vague recollection seeing somewhere that the main element is still Aluminum (so technically it's still an Aluminum alloy), but it has a lot of Magnesium (like 30~40%?) which is special (would be glad if anyone has some real facts to post), and for C, yes the price to acquire is high, but I think that you'll make money in the long-term (i.e., the value is only going to go up, and they are easily reconverted into $).
I see thank you very much. Now I'm thinking about buying an after market wheel for my 84 308 QV and just store my originals and save them before something happen. Is this a good idea?
I don't think so -- it's a bit like buying a Fiero so you can keep the 308 in storage Seriously, for me, it's these unique technical details that make a F a joy to own and use.
Here is one for the front...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FERRARI-MAGNESIUM-308-WHEEL-wheels-16x7-16-x7-308QV_W0QQitemZ270033610862QQihZ017QQcategoryZ43956QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem And here is one for the back...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FERRARI-MAGNESIUM-308-WHEEL-Wheels-16-x8-308QV_W0QQitemZ270033604739QQihZ017QQcategoryZ43956QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Same seller he just broke the set up after not being able to sell them together. I would assume he has the other two as well?? No affiliation blah blah blah.....
Unless you really hit the mother of all potholes, or your car makes an appearance on Wrecked Exotics, common damage like chips and even curb rash can be repaired very nicely. The nice thing about 16" wheels is that unlike the monster 19-inchers they have some tire thickness to protect them.
For some reason I wound up with 3 16x7 wheels on my 85 308. I have been looking for a single 16x8 for 10 years, it anyone knows of one please let me know. I would like to trade my extra 16x7 if possible. Thanks, Mark
i have a 16x8 , but its one of the ferrari UK replica wheels. if it will help you let me know, but i understand you may want an original. $250.00 + shipping.
Thanks for the offer, but indeed i am looking for a set of original wheels. Is there really no one out there to give some suggestions ?
Did T Rutlands not have them...? Bad Info? There's a wrecking yard in England, maybe easier for you......
Franc, Try www.italparts.com, they list the asked wheels. Easy for you because it's in Holland... Can you post a picture please? Kind regards, JR
Thx again BigTex for your response. I did contact T Rutlands after you had suggested them, but they had nothing at the moment and had no idea how long it would take to find a good and orginal set again. Thx Remans, I've already tried italparts, but they only have replicas for sale.
Remans; here are 2 links into ebay of 2 wheels that are for sale. Im looking for exactly these ones, however i need a complete set (2 pcs 7J for front and 2 pcs 8J for rear) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FERRARI-MAGNESIUM-308-WHEEL-wheels-16x7-16-x7-308QV_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43956QQihZ017QQitemZ270033610862QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FERRARI-MAGNESIUM-308-WHEEL-Wheels-16-x8-308QV_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43956QQihZ017QQitemZ270033604739QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
I guess this is gonna be hard and expensive! IIRC $2,000 to $2500USD is a good "set" value, I suppose..hard to say if it's worth $500 per wheel to gamble you'll find the rest! I put OEM 14" x 7.5" together for $1K for 4 and the last one for $65.00USD! Lug Nuts added at $375.00 for 20...used. *pulling ski mask down* Bring a jack and four concrete blocks!
Did you contact the seller of these two and see if he had a whole set?? He says in the ad that he broke them up from one sale. I would think he had all four but who knows unless you ask him.
No i didnt, but by reading the Q&A in his add, other people already raised that question and it appears he only has 1 pcs 7J and 1 pcs 8J. I am not convinced it's wise to purchase this incomplete set. Think it's better to continue the search for a complete set. Thx anyway for your input.
Making a set or buy a set still means you have a set. I would take what I can get while I can get them. You cant want them too badly if you are just wating for a complete set to fall on your lap.
Yes, you surely have a point. I have noted some people have the 7J as a single one available, but I understand laying your hands on a 8J is really difficult. Im just gonna bet for the time being on finding a complete set. So, if you know or hear something, would appreciate a sign. Thx.
