    Hi guys,

I purchased new wheels for my Gallardo and I would like to know of any recommended shops that you may know of that can take the original wheels off of my tires and install the new wheels on the same set of tires. I am looking for a shop that will NOT scratch, bump, and grind the wheels as they are installing / uninstalling them and is very meticulous. Last time I went to Belletrie to put new wheels on, I paid the price!!

    Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I know just how you feel. Some years ago when I restored the wheels on my TR, I wanted to find a shop I could trust to install tires. I ended up driving down to Angola Indiana to a small shop that specializes in high end automotive stuff. Just about everywhere else I went, each place said they would not guarantee "no scratches" to the wheel.

As a last resort, you can mount up the tires by hand yourself (lots of grunting and groaning).....then inflate them, and finally take them to a trusted place for balancing.

I'm sure somebody will pop in and recommend a good shop for you....

Take a look at the Tire Rack recommended installers for the area on their website. I had Tire One on Eight Mile road mount my new tires with their 'touchless' (doesn't exist) equipment and they did an excellent job. See my feedback from last fall. It's a family owned business and the father spent 3 hours mounting and balancing my tires/wheels. This question is truly the holy grail of the auto world......good luck!

It's a very expensive piece of equipment that the owner "paid too much into" with few customers coming in to use it; however, it's computer controlled, and does amazing work!

You might try Nikolas Motorsport in Sylvan Lake 248 6827755.They specialize in Porsche & BMW, but they were recommended by the Tire Rack when i purchased my new wheels and tires. They did an outstanding job mounting and balencing my custom wheels, and i recommend them without reservation. They do a lot of racecar work ,so they know what needs to happen.

Wonderful. I appreciate all the feedback. I am glad to hear there are some places that actually care about the customer's belongings. I will be going to one of the places mentioned, just dont know which one. Probably one that is closest to me (Fenton, MI)

This is the world famous Fadi right? I use to watch your videos of the yellow car beating dougs black frc back when it was a stock bottom end ls1. Are you still on a stock motor? What rims did you go with? If you ever come down to Toledo Id love to catch a ride. Do you do any detroit meets?

    Kind of OT:

When I had the dealer swap my tires, they put the new wheel weights on in a different place and left the sticky part visible where the old ones were. It's obvious and bothers me. I should have *****ed at them, but I wasn't in the mood at the time.

That stuff can come off without damaging the wheels, right?

Also, C6Z06, you are in SE Michigan? Ever go to Autozone or anything? If so, could I catch a ride in your TTG? I'm thinking about doing a TT to the R8 and want to finally catch a ride in a TTG to see what the fuss is all about.

Hehe. That's me. I am still on the stock motor, but that will change this winter. I am really looking forward to that. I have not done too many Detroit meets, but let me know if you are ever out to one, I will definitely stop by and say hello, hang oiut, etc.

I am not often in OH, but if I do head out that way, you are more than welcome to catch a ride. If you are ever in MI for any events, send me a PM. Here is a pic of the wheels I just purchased in Satin Black and should be here early next week.

    Hi Douglas,

Yes, I am in SE MI.

I have yet to go to Autozone, but I am definitely interested in going. I am usually always out and about everywhere, really. I just love to cruise, hang out, etc with other car guys. I'd be happy to take you out for a ride, but this is only a bolt on TT kit, not a fully built TTG, so it's not making the power you typically hear about.

Will you be at Autozone this weekend? If so, we can meet up. Just let me know.

I had mine done at Discount Tire in New Hudson (at the Milford Road exit off I-96). Matt Berry, the manager, did them himself and did an excellent job on my splined (TR) wheels. He cleaned each wheel on the inside while the tires were off, really took his time. I will go back there.

Thanks all. I ended up going to Tire One in Famrington Hills. WOW, what a great job those guys do. The touchless machine is fabulous, and Dennis is a stand up guy. I highly recommend these guys for anyone doing a wheel install.

Good to hear of a good experience. Hope all is well and the car is still running fine. I haven't seen her in awhile (since when I ran into you at woodward), and look forward to the next time you have it out and down in this side of town

This is a reply to a very old thread, but I would only trust Auto Europe in Birmingham.

These guys are first class and really treat the cars like they are their own. Lotus is their speciality but they handle Italians as well. My car has 2.5" of clearance and it won't go on most alignment racks but these guys were able to do it.

    Ask for Tom.
