This is difficult to search for in the archives. I don't know what they're called but those hook like bolts that hold the engine lid closed (p/n 60035201 no longer available). Any ideas where to get these? One of these blinking things just snapped in two.

A 'wrecker' will have them, TRutlands or one of the many "parting out" posts we have in this Section...

I would try Russ at Ferrparts www.ferrparts.com
They are parting out a bunch of them right now.

    Ben,

Take solace in the fact that even if you can't locate the J Bolt, it can be easily fabricated.

Thanks for the replies chaps. I'll do some research. Seems odd that such a crude basic component isn't something generic. I'll ring around a few wreckers and post any ludicrous prices quoted for a piece of bent metal with a threaded end.

Thanks for the links guys. $68.80 is an interesting price. If I can't get it fabricated exactly for less I'll certainly consider spending that figure. Which would be interesting.

It doesn't too bad too fab one yourself, I'll take a a try:

    - Long metric bolt just like that.
    - Put couple nuts on the bolt and tighten them toghether
    - Heat it up with your torch.
    - Make the big bend first. Use a vise, small hammer and vise grip as needed
    - Make the small bend later
    - Cut the head of the bolt
    - Remove the nuts and cut to lenght, clean up the thread.
    - Grind the bolt to clean thing up if there a need to.

You probably won't get the 1st one but, do it couple times if needed and you will get close the it.

    Have fun.

Just to put this thread to bed, Superformance (bless them!!) using the broken bolt as a guide made me a new one for nothing! If anyone's interested they've made more of them and intend to add them to their catalogue of parts on their website. I'm told they will be competitively priced.

I was wondering how this would turn out. Good for you, Ben! Colin and his staff are gentlemen.

Ben, if you're fab'ing one up, put more, or less, heat on depending on how tight a bend you want. In other words, if you want a sharper bend then put more concentrated heat on it in that specific area. You don't need to heat it up to white hot, it you have a very slight dull glow that's plenty hot.
