That little water pump problem from a while ago is almost sorted out. The slight problem is finding a new seal here in New Zealand.

The part is a GACO seal part number B 25343. Outer size 38 mm inner ring size 20 mm and shaft length 17mm. This is to fit a 330GT2+2 Type 209 V12.

Anybody know somewhere to get a or a few of these seals in the USA or for that matter anywhere in the world!

Cross posting this message on Tom's 330 restoration forum also.

I'm surprised you cannot take the seal to say Saeco (in NZ, or some other bearing, etc. supplier) and find one the same size, etc.

    It's just a seal ;)

Taken the seal to four places who have spent the day on the phone and fax to suppliers throughout the country with no luck yet.

Talked to companies up and down the country still with no luck.

It's taken me many hours shagging around. I was just thinking if somebody has got one from a company overseas somewhere it might just be cheaper to slap a couple seals on the old visa card and get the air freighted out here.

Fair enough ... best of luck.

Otherwise little modification might be required (ie. machining housing, etc. to fit more common seal size).

That's what the guys at Auto Restoration in Christchurch where thinking about. I was feeling a little funny about doing that.

Would be interesting to get some opinions from some people if hacking a waterpump seal would be a good or bad thing to do.

I meant machining the housing not the seal.

In the end a seal is a seal and as long as it meets the design requirements ... then physical dimensions can be modified (ie. larger/smaller shaft or larger/smaller hole in the housing).

This is common practice for keeping old cars on the road ... especially for bearings that are out of stock.
