Where were you and what were you doing five years ago? How have you changed as a person during that time? Do you have any regrets on decisions made? etc.

Just thought it would be an interesting topic for discussion.

    Cheers,

    d

5 years ago I was single, not a Ferrari owner and was making money faster than I could spend it. All 3 of those things have changed in the last 5 years.

Hmmm, I was pretty much the same place I am now except I was in NY and not Albuquerque. I was also making half as much money doing a job that sucked twice as much. Come to think of it, i'm in a completely different 'place' than i was 5 years ago.

Five years ago, I was preparing to quit a large company I had worked at for 19 years.

Since then, had the best job of my life, been laid off, worked as a temp, watched my eldest son go from kindergarten to 5th grade, bought a midlife crisis car (Sunbeam Tiger), discovered Fchat, been to Monterey 3 years runnging, celebrated my 15th wedding anniversary...........
    In short, life happened.

    Erich
hope to see fchatters in Monterey.

Five years ago - I was in business development and web development for an online financial services company. That was during the dot-com boom. While I wasn't a big trader, I bought and sold stocks, but nothing over 9K on each. It amounted to quite a bit but then... the bubble burst and I can buy a Wendy's combo with that dough now. It was fun while it lasted.

I was also in tip top shape, wakeboarding 2-3 times a week and juggling a girl or two or three. Such a blurr those twenties were.

This all seems like a lifetime, or two ago. So many changes and experiences. Some, which I'm still recovering from.

    - 34 years young.
    - 1 year into my second marriage.
    - former boss (referred to her as Mr. Ed) insulted me with a 1% pay raise...resulting in me quitting a year later and going into coporate financing.
    - not a Ferrari owner...but a Fiat 124 Spider owner for the previous 12 years.
    - condo still wasn't fully renovated....and still isn't!!!
    - daily driver....a 91 VW Golf.
    - gas was cheaper...although we didin't think so at the time.

5 years ago, I became a permanent resident of the USA.

New country, new wife, and a new job. So basically, everything changed.

    I am certainly happier now.

5 years ago I had just started high school. My parents had just gotten a divorce and I didnt know what the hell was going on. Now I work for Fred Meyers and UPS. Make a some cash. Nothing serious but its something. I moved from one side of the state (Spokane) to the other (Vancouver), left all my high school/college friends behind and bought my first car.

Good timing for this thread as FerrariChat.com is coming up on its 5 year anniversary in November.

In 2000 much happened. Married in May, first Ferrari in September, and started FerrariChat in November.

Things have continued to improve. Still married. :) Two Ferraris. Not with Sprint, but made it through the bust market alive. Imagine what FerrariChat has become in 5 years? 2 upgrades from condo to small house to larger house.

Only downsides would be gained about 20 lbs. as I switched hobbies from triathlons to car racing. Also have become way too busy trying to manage my day job and FerrariChat. I sometimes miss when things were simple.

Next 5 years will go fulltime working for myself, get back in triathlon shape, expand the family, and just relax while enjoying life to the fullest.

bought my 365GT2+2 5 years ago.
Had no kids. Now have two boys! Three and a half and 14 months - so I have never been happier and have never been more tired. Did I mention fatter? And my wife is still a total fox.
