Actually, MS said he would announce his decision in October. That's dragging it out, but not waffling.

We may find his announcement contains the word, Sauber.

The appearance of dignity might have been more appropriate way to put it.

It's too far away from the Bois de Boulogne for Max.

Careful there, we already "lost" a regular temporarily for a similar thing today.

    I missed it.
In any case I hope to remain pure.
What's the record for most posts before a ban?

True. His manager is quoted as saying that he was offered a contract to sign in June as well, but wasn't sure about driving next year at that point. That's when Mercedes started contacting Hamilton's management.

    ?

It's been established that MS was offered a contract around the end of the 6-week time frame Brawn originally specified, but he wanted to wait until October to make a decision. This was too long for Mercedes to wait, who jumped on LH instead.

MB couldn't afford to pass up signing Lewis if Michael wouldn't commit.
Mike's been around long enough not to be surprised.

Seems to be the way it played out. If MS had signed earlier, he'd be there next year. I'm not sure if MS procrastinating was bad for MS or just great for LH and Mercedes. Hopefully MS didn't mind too much either way.

If it were important to him (or if he knew his mind) he would have acted in time.

That's what I'm hoping (for his sake) rather than...."I have all the time in the world, because there's no one they could replace me with"

Sometimes you want something to happen but can't bring yourself do it.

    Who knows?

I hope a career like his can end with the grace and honor it deserves.

    I still equate Schumacher's career with Ali's.

Both had a very unsuccessful comeback (compared to the first stint) and people won't forget the lack of results....but in the future what will be remembered more is what they both did for their respective sports and how successful they were in their prime.

I don't see that either of them destroyed their legacy in any way. Ali is still a legend, and so is Schumacher.

errr...not that this has anything to do with the thread title :)
