Contemplating selling a Dino... unlike most Dinos.

Assume the description is accurate: 1974 GTS American Chairs & Flares, Factory AC
100% original. Never painted (one part of one panel sprayed in late 70s where the owner's kid's bike dented it). 15.8k miles

Three documented owners (ignoring the last dealer seller). All original books, tools, wipe down cloth, folder, all documented, researched. Everything complete.

Previous owners known collectors, documented, west coast doctors.

Car runs perfectly. Second gear synchro is perfect right from cold start. Comments from two well-known Dino mechanics :"The most original Dino I've ever seen" and "Perfect. Drives better than any car I've been in since 1974."

The paint is original, and obviously original. Lots of chicken scratch patterns, some cracks.

Cosmetics rated probably A for a 40 year old unpainted car. Driver's door needs a little adjustment. It's sagged a tad, so it sticks but opens and closes no problem.

Factor air blows cold. Tires have 3,000 miles on them, 5-6 years old. Correct Michelins.

If you were to sell this car where would you go? Two estimates so far are $450 area or better. No rush... When and where and with who?

The top auctions are close to full, the reserves also need to be reasonable for entry level sports cars.

They have plenty of cars to choose from.

    FYI

So $450K is entry level now?

As far as where to sell it--that's a no-brainer. Definitely one of the Monterey auctions.

Question is which one. Contact the companies and see which seems most interested.

The following comments are based solely on my experience as a spectator over the last 30 years:

A couple of years ago Mecum (IIRC) sold an all-original barn find Dino and Daytona for good prices and it seems to me Russo and Steele isn't so upmarket they will look down their noses at your car as not being expensive enough. Russo and Steele have had a couple of nice Dinos each year for the last 2 yrs at least and got good sales prices for them.

RM used to be an interesting auction to see but last year it seemed they had abandoned the lower and middle markets entirely. The same car which would be the star of the show at Mecum would be "that piece of junk in the corner" at RM. Hard to say where you'd get the better price but I suspect the emotional experience as a seller would be very different.
