Hey guys, so I’m finally making the move. I sold my F12 for 20,000 more than what I bought it for and it was a great deal and now I have two 458 specs in front of me. 2013 - grey exterior (with the wrap stripes) - beige interior - 8000 km (can’t get over that) - $330,000CAD - full body ppf - full records 2015 - grey exterior also, red interior - 20000km - $320,000CAD - no ppf - full records both are full carbon trim. Which one and why? Thank you! Both look like great cars. Do you like the red interior? Personally I'm not a fan. Which seat do you find more comfortable? What is the condition of the cars? Sticky buttons? How old is the PPF? Just on mileage and year I'd lean towards the 2015. 8000km is kind of no mans land where its too much to be a real collector car, but not enough to keep the car in good running shape. Depends on when the miles were put on though. Have all the miles been put on in the last two or three years? Or did it get driven for its first year or two and then sit for the last 10?
I had a coupe with Daytona seats and a spider with Racing seats. For me the racing seats were actually more comfortable. The only hassle is they are not powered so you have to move them manually every time you get in and out of the car. The racing seats were a pricey option. But I'm assuming they are not for everyone. Both to me look terrific. I think I would decide by sitting in them and see which one you like best.
If both are in the same condition, the red interior car easy....it really pops and paired with those CF backed seats drops the mic. Now in real life, 2 cars can't be in the same condition and one has over twice the miles so have both inspected if you can't decide.
gray/red all the way - the racing seats are the only ones that don't feel like you're driving a truck! But both cars look great and have carbon interior options so whichever one you like more just get it. Everybody has an opinion and you don't know us and we don't know you so could be spot on or 180 out..
I agree ref the red is polarizing. I can handle it for the seats and the door inners but seeing it on the steering wheel/lower dash would kill the deal for me. For the one with the stripe, it would be nice if you could to see if there is discoloration between the paint that was covered/not, but with full ppf that is likely going to be difficult. Its likely not a prob if these are in Canada and don't have same issue as it does here in SoCal where paint can discolor if they see a lot of sunlight/UV. If these are Canada, make sure to look underneath/wheel wells for any adverse effects due to wet/salt.
Pass on both and keep looking. The first one has too many after market stripes on it that are distracting. Brown interior is also hard to pull off in a grey car. The red is too much for me in the second one and the yellow seat belts just kill the deal. The 458 is a timeless car and both of these models detract from that. Just my opinion you asked so I answered. If I had to choose I would say the lower miles and the ppf (assuming it was recent and well done) as those are about $10k right now.
There wont be discoloration, it is a wrap, i can just remove it. The cars are garaged in winter in canada, no one ever drives these in the cold.
i am a pro bodybuilder, the racing seats were.. how do i say this, i wanted to buy an amg gt pro, and i didnt because of the seats, i didnt fit right. its not as bad as this, but i still felt okay this will be a pain in traffic. Also had previous back surgery, so the seats might be an issue, but im so keen on value holding. The car was driven about 400-800 km a year. every year. Just garaged in winter, which is why cars here in canada generally dont have a lot of mileage.
Seems like its an easy choice then. Don't get a car that you aren't going to be comfortable in. The cars have all settled in value already, if you put 5k miles on each of them in the next 5 years they are going to depreciate about the same.
