I'm interested in knowing which you think are the "essential" books about Dino 246GT and 246GTS (not necessarily the Dino race cars), with emphasis on helping the reader identify originality, and about the ownership experience.

    Thanks.

    Jack.

Dino by Doug Nye would be a good start.

Has anybody done a book on originality along the same lines as Bluemel's books on the V12s and V8s?

"Ferrari Dino" by Anthony Curtis is pretty good.
Also, the 'Classic and Sportscar' mag has had a good buyers guide that is worth getting your hands on.

I haven't seen one done like that, but it would be nice if there was one. Strabgley, I think F-chat has more info regarding the cars, their owners experiences (both current and old), helpful tips, and what to look for better than any other resource I know.

The one Matthias will author, hopefully before 2020...

"Dino", by Jean Paul Gabriel, is very good.

Not 2020, but 2011. Will be the ultimate Dino book, that's for sure.

And for those who are interested in the early racing Dino SPs (1956 - 1962):

    John Godfrey

    Patrick Stephens Limited, 1990

I assume you meant Jean-Pierre Gabriel, Alberto. Anyway, I am glad you brought this author to my attention. I would have overlooked him otherwise.

Jean-Paul Gabriel has apparently written four books on the Dino. Unfortunately, they are all in French, which is incomprehensible to me. His third book, “Dino, les outres Ferrari”, which is supposed to be one of his best, apparently was translated into German, as “Dino, die anderen Ferrari” (Motor Buch Verlag, 1992). I am able to read some German, so if anybody knows where to get that version, I would be interested to hear. The usual Google search only turned up some already sold items.

    Regards,
    Lars

If you just read one, I think it should be Ferrari Dino by Anthony Curtis.

Having read very detailed and complete books on Jaguar XKEs, MG Ts, etc., I have to say I am still waiting for the definitive Dino book. I hope Matthias will do that soon (in English, please), drawing heavily from the wealth of information on this forum.

The best photos, showing differences in vents, wheels, and other details between the Dino models, I've seen are in the special issues on the Dino put out by the Japanese publishing company Neko, which publishes "Car" and "Scuderia." The photos are large and superb, and show details rather than the usual "scenic" shots. There are side by side comparisons between the models. The paper is thick and glossy, to boot. I assume the text is excellent as well; unfortunately, the magazines are all in Japanese. Now, if someone can convince Neko to prublish an English version, that would be a very good book.
