I am looking for a car for Europe Touring and will buy in Q1 2022.

Which car has the most luggage space?

Also is there some dedicated luggage kits available?

Speciale should have more as Pista has aero duct running thro' frunk - depending on seat position both should have similar space behind seats

They are virtually the same. Slightly different, but about the same. The S duct takes up less luggage space than you think. There is a lot of space under the s duct.

There is some fitted luggage, but never seen it. Don't care for the gaudy fitted luggage. Best use of the luggage space in a Pista is soft bags in the boot, suit carriers and small bags behind the seats. In other words, don't over-think it.

If you want to tour Europe in one of those, bring your noise cancelling headphones. Also, get MPS4S shoes on it. Much less tyre noise and overall better grip on public roads.

I find the frunk in the Speciale quite generous. I'm thinking of selling my Speciale beginning of next year. Situated in Monaco.
If you really need space, the frunk in a 458/458 spider is bigger.

I had a look at my Pista and it feels as though it goes quite deep under the S Duct.

Traveling along is no problem, it’s just when my wife comes.

I saw some dedicated fitted luggage online that looked pretty good.

Behind the seats I can definitely pick up some space.

Yes noise is a big issue and the seats aren’t that comfortable either….

So I went for a drive today with another Fchatter here in his Speciale and did a back to back comparison.

The luggage space looks to be very similar.

    The drive was completely different.

You definitely have to get the Speciale to keep it motoring. The noise of course was intoxicating especially with the xpipe and exhaust mods on his car.

    The Pista won in ever other respect being;

    1. Quite a lot faster!! With a heap more torque.

    2. The brakes are stronger.

    3. The traction and new side slip angle software is way sharper.

    4. The gear shifts are faster too.

    5. The steering is more precise.

All in all the Pista would be a much better hauler on the highways based on the endless torque.

Perhaps I should consider and F8???

F8 is an awesome car. Collected mine on Saturday and drove about 400 miles home. Didn’t miss a beat.

For touring around Europe as say, the,F8 will be more fun in the long run. After a while, the noise in the Pista will become tiresome, and interaction with your passenger will become more limited, if not strained.

Here's the short of it. Yes the idea of touring a Pista is great, and perhaps a bit "romantic". We would all like to think that we are enthusiasts and only the pure experience will do. But reality is that after a while, it starts to wear you out, and that is no fun at all. I had this argument with someone in fhe spring, who was almost upaet because I was of this opinion. Oh, he had used his as a daily. Guess what, so have I. Oh, he had taken his for long drives, like 350 km in one day. Now this is where it all falls apart. Driving the car as a daily, maybe doing 50-75 km per day, or doing a "roadtrip" as he called it, where he drove 350 km, is one thing. But driving 3000-4000 km in 5-7 days, is entirely different. Then the noise and harsh ride stops being fun.

You need to look at what you are doing and the reality of it. I wonder how many who ramble on about it being "weak" that one prefers a 488 or F8 to a Pista for such an endeavour have even tried it. "Oh, you drive in Auto? Pansy!" "Oh you can't handle a REAL car? Weak!" "You aren't a real enthusiast!" Well, to those who say such crap, do a proper roadtrip, preferably one that takes you through Nurburg. Then you can spend a little time at the ring, you know, just rack up a few laps, like 800 km on track and the continue on.

My point is that you need to be realistic about what you are doing. Way too many aren't and a lot of them don't even know what a trip in such a car feels like.

I wouldn't say it because you asked about Pista vs. Speciale, but my thought was F8 the entire time. That car is what will do that trip best. Want it a wee bit more raw but not like the VS cars? Easy. Get a simple Novi GPF delete and the Novi springs, but only with a 10mm drop. That will give you a lot of what you enjoy in the Pista, but it will not wear you out. When I say GPF delete, I mean just that. Stock back box, stock cates etc. Just the GPF delete.

    That's my suggestion.

If I was Touring Europe and had a choice of all new Ferraris I'd choose a Portofino M. Surprisingly well rounded Ferrari with a very sporting edge and I preferred it to the Roma in pretty much all respects.

    Or F8 Spider!

I've had my car for 2-weeks and already done more mileage than I managed in the coupe.

All roof down, even in 5C ambient. Loads of fun :)

I agree these cars in lightweight spec with all of the sound deadening removed and harder suspension can be very tiring day after day.

In the past I have owned a 550, 575 and an F12 in Europe and I have done big KM's in them. The F12 was 22,000kms. My wife and have very fond memories touring in this car and it had loads of luggage space.

When it came to long haul drives from England to Germany to Czech to Austria to Itay it was brilliant.

When it came to pushing on through the fast and twisty stuff with my friends in the other cars it was not as much fun.

This was me in Stelvio behind the 918.

I think the only true car for comfort and fast pace on mountain roads would be the F8.

I just prefer the limited stuff as it holds it value better and looks better and feels more special when you are in them....... Just a thought.

I currently have a Roma on order in the US and it should arrive in May. I also have an 812 GTS which should arrive in August. Plus I just bought an F12 TDF.

Also, I need a car that is ******* fast to do some epic fast drives in.

Spider is definitely nice! However I think I would loose valuable rear storage space. Correct me if I am wrong? However I thought that there is no space behind the rear seats.

There is a bit of a difference, but for me it's definitely not a dealbreaker. If you have the CF seats, that gives you even more room. At the end of the day the F8 has so much boot space that it is what counts imo. The F8 really bridges the gap between touring and sport, and hence why I chose that over a Pista Spider. Funny enough, the F8 is so composed on the public roads, that you will more than likely find that you are faster in that, than you would be in a Pista. Set it up properly and a Pista with factory setup will have a very hard time hanging on to it.

As per above, the behind seat storage space is virtually the same. There is no rear shelf in either car, so if anything its fractions of an inch, which I haven't noticed during my switch.

Soft bags are the way to go in the frunk, as even a small wheelie bag will not sit flat, so has to go on its side wasting space, as the wheels snag (and thats a small Ferrari item). Things like 991 pretty much swallow 2x stacked, which is much better, but you wont do that in an F8 with regular luggage IMO.

Once again I agree with you… the F8 truly looks like the perfect candidate.

And good point about the carbon seats they do sit a lot more thin at the back area.

    Thank you for your input.
