I need some help identifying this car. Hopefully this is not a Z-based replica ;-) These pics are from today, at the Portland OR historic races. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yep- 0442M according to the serial plate, hood was open as I walked by it today at the PDX historics. Beautiful, had what looked like 3 4bbl webbers on it, is this correct? When it fired up the sound was amazing!!!
The late Bill Serri owned this car for close to 30 years til he died a few years ago. He drove 0442M from NJ to the FCA National in 1997 in Northern Virginia. I'll never forget being at the show very early the first morning when we all heard a fantastic noise in the distance. Finally, 0442M came into sight at the end of the long driveway into the resort. Bill was quite the sight, wearing a beret and old goggles w/ his white beard and a couple of hundred bugs that had died an exotic vintage death on the way from Jersey. Somewhere I have a picture of this scene- I'll try to dig it up, scan and post. It looks like the car is in good hands.
Bill Serri was a good guy. Never afraid to drive or race his exceptional Ferraris. Glad to see this car still running around the tracks.
Not the 250 engine, but does show the Carb layout unobscured by air cleaners. http://home.earthlink.net/~fchat/images/3x4bblWebers_335Sport.jpg
That is the carb layout, thanks for the photo- thought I was nuts at first glance, was this a common set up? For a car that is driven/raced regularly 0442M is in great condition
After posting that photo, I realized that it's actually 6x2bbl (DCN). Sorry. http://home.earthlink.net/~fchat/images/250MM_3x4bbl_IF4C.jpg
now I feel like an idiot... I was looking at the side rather than the center of the manifold! To quote one H. Simpson, "DOH!" The second pic is the one, thanks! Regardless, 0442M is stunning!
here you go. Bill Serri in 0442M @ the '97 FCA National plus some shots of the motor and those gigantic 4 barrel carbs. Note David Letterman's coupe in the background as well as our 0556(0446)MD further back. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
