I'm now looking for the most raw visceral experience I can get in a street car. I've narrowed it down to two: Scud and McLaren 620R. Have not driven either one but have watched a lot of videos. I will be driving a 620R in the next couple of weeks. Something about that roof scoop, the inside snorkel and the Darth Vader exhale sound is really intriguing, along with the carbon tub, race harnesses and rocks hitting the chassis. What do you think and do you have any other possible car recommendations?

Most visceral? What’s your price point?

if not going the heavy mod route, then I’d say viper acr, 05 ford gt with an exhaust, Senna XP, gt350r, P1…

If you arent after all out track time but still want raw, look for a road legal F355 Challenge with a manual box

Thanks everyone. All great suggestions and some I've even considered before. This car would not be for the track as those days are pretty much over for me. I live in St. George, UT which is 105 miles north of Las Vegas. So I'm basically a hop, skip and a jump away from Zion National Park, Bryce National Park and the Grand Canyon. So I do most of my fun driving there early morning on weekends. Have been to Zion probably a hundred times over the last twenty years. Here is a couple pics. The glow on "Sweeping Rock" is from the sun hitting the rocks.

‘05-06 Ford GT is the pinnacle of visceral cars that are still new-ish.

But they aren’t for everyone as it requires a high level of driver skill due to there not being any driver aids (crutches).

As the design has been basically unchanged since 1957, a Caterham is one of the purest proposal.

If creature comforts were not a factor that would be my choice. With a 200+ HP Ford rally engine in street tune.

All of the above stated are great but I can also tell you first hand that the Ford GT with an exhaust and supercharger is the top spot from any Mac or Ferrari. I know it's a Ford and I didn't want to believe it myself but it's undeniably the best for what you're looking for. Rev9 Group based in Draper, UT has quite the collection if you'd like to make a trip up here before making a purchase. You could check out Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Ford GT as well as the Shelby GT350R, etc. Some have custom exhausts from Ryft and VF superchargers. For speed the Huracan Performante with VF supercharger and Ryft exhaust is the most unnecessary speed demon that pushes it right to the limit of the traction you can have in the tires before things get sketchy. Ford GT for raw sound and experience driving. Shelby GT350R gives you a sense of that on a smaller budget. Ferrari 360's with a gated 6 speed give you an awesome feel but not quite the power. I think a gated F430 Scud would be a better experience but you could see what you like. Also we have some connections to Vegas where you can check out some similar cars if you'd like me to connect you. You can email [email protected] if you'd like and I'll be happy to help make sure you get exactly what you're looking for.

Of the 2 you mentioned (Scud, 620R). The 620R will be the most 'raw' of the two. The 620R is basically a 570 GT4 car that has some changes to make it road legal. The Scud is a 430 road car that follows the Stradale formula. Except the CS uses more tech from the FIA GT car.

I don't really push much on drives anymore like I used to. For me now, it's the cool air, scenery and just the car and I. I'm looking for loud, raucous and uncomfortable with minimum creature comforts. Lot of great choices here.

600LT. Flames out the back baby. 620R couldn't have the exhaust mounted up top due to homologation rules. The 600LT also has the longtail gearing. I would try a drive in one of those. You can get it in spider form also

Alfa Romeo 4c Spyder with factory Akraprovic muffler. That carbon fiber tub with bespoke v4 engine. It pulls harder than my then 458 and definitely is more raw than my now STO. I just have such hard time to decide to part with it.

I sold everything off earlier this year and kept just the Ford GT. Simply the top imo.

Viper ACR (gen IV or V, gen IV is more raw). Must be a manual trans IMO if you want the most raw, visceral experience.

He got the current GT3RS. He lives here but they keep a home in UT AFAIK. Would make the registration way cheaper if they did.

The 620r is more hardcore than the 600 though?

This is a Ferrari forum and no one recommends the F40?!

  24. I've never had the fortune, or opportunity, to drive an F40.

But from everyone I know and respect who has driven an F40, it is not so much raw, as tedious.

I think it is harder sprung, with a roll cage and harnesses integrated.
