In searching for the right mondial 3.2 cabriolet, I have noticed some cars have the Scuderia shields on their fenders and some do not. 1984 QV - does 1985 QV - does not. 1987 3.2 - does 1988 3.2 - does not. 1989 T - does not. Is there a pattern to this madness? Was it a dealer option, or was it a symbol of Scuderia autosport victory? I love the shields.
Are you concerened about authenticity? I have a set on my 308. I bought them on eBay for $20. They look great. They are not authentic...in fact they are cheap magnetic knock-offs, so if someone steals them, I won't cry. Every Ferrari looks good with fender shields in my opinion! Heck, I even have them on my Celica! Birdman
I don't mean magenetic ones (I need some of those for my Alfa!!!) I mean the $$$ cloisonne ones!! Not for authenticity, as I'm not that much of a pick-pot.
The only Ferraris out-fitted with the Scuderia shields on the fenders are: The cheesy ones. Image Unavailable, Please Login
SF shields were not an option on production cars until the 355 I believe. So shields on any other production Ferraris would not be OEM and may not be OEM on later models either as a lot of owners added them once they bought the car. Also, you should note that the SF shields on older racing Ferraris were either adhesive stickers or painted on not cloisone.
NONE of the cars you listed came with shields installed by the factory. Only the supercars (288 GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo) came with factory installed metal/enamel shields as standard trim. Not until, I believe 1998, did Ferrari start to allow shields as a factory "option."
The 355 Fiorano (sp) Package, I think it was an option or maybe part of the special package for the last few 355s...... But personally I don't care for them....unless Factory installed.. Guess I'll have to get the 288GTO then, darn!
