I think I prefer the exterior color of the Gransport and the interior color of the Spyder. Still a great combo on your spyder though, dr. Are you still enjoying your Spyder? Would you recommend it to others?
Love the color combo on the Spyder and also like the blue, but that techo interior on the Gransport is just to much for my conservative taste. Gransport can be ordered in leather. Dale are you hinting about a future purchase again?
The Spyder is a hoot to drive and women really love the car. Funny thing is that close to 400 hp ensures that it is not a chick car. The car has the F1, and I have actually been driving it more in the auto mode and shifting with my right foot, i.e., lifting ever so slightly right before the shift point and then hammering it after the up shift. It does have one very annoying hiccup right around 2,500 rpm. Plus the traction control is actually unsafe! If you floor it, the car will jump and then fall into a huge hole as the MSP cuts in. I hear that it works great in the wet, which is good because it really stinks in the dry. The Grandsport takes things to a whole another level. I can't say if the motor has any more power, but the F1 delivery system really shines. No flat spots, very seamless, no abrupt cutoffs by the traction control. The GS is definitely a much better driver than the Spyder. I'll post more later. Dale
How about with the MSP turned off? I usually leave the MSP on and go in sport mode which on my GT gives you a little more room before traction control sets in. Couple of times that I have decided to play with MSP turned off found very little intervention and learned quickly that you could lose car very easily if not paying attention. With all the uncertainty of when we might see future models from Maserati I am getting tempted by the 90th anniversary Spyder or the Gransport, While I had stated my desire for a GT the improvements I keep hearing about in the Gransport F1 is starting to make me rethink this
While I hate to go out on a limb, I think Maser is here to stay in the US for two reasons. First, remember Ferrari, Alfa, Maserati, and Fiat are all owned by Fiat Spa. Stripping Maserati out of Ferrari was just rearranging the deck chairs of a very sick company, i.e., Fiat Auto. Second, I'm guessing that just about every US Ferrari dealer has already made a 7 figure investment in their Maser dealership. Even more telling, the dealers are just starting to make money with the GS and the QP. So, yes, some dealers may drop their Maserati line in a few years, but I suspect that others will pick them up. Finally, based on taking an extended drive in the GS over the weekend, I'd definitely get the GS over any of the coupes. The GS is worth the extra money. (The catch is how much extra money, eh?) The Spyder is a cool car if you like droptops, and it does have a shorter wheelbase, which makes it more flickable. Oh, and just one more thing... I have to say that the fit and finish on my Maser Spyder is better than any new Ferrari that I have spent some time in, including the Stradale. Dale
maserati seems to have hit the bullzeye with the GS and Qp.I dont know if anyone has heard but Sergio Marchionne is in charge of Maser now which can only be a good thing, him being a north american( chek www.maserati.com for info).the clincher will be a fully auto Qp and V12 version.
Also I have always heard that dealerships make more money servicing a car than they do in the actual sale. Since Ferrari dealers sell such a small number of cars I would think they would love the increase in revenue from servicing Maserati's
Funny, when polling women, they all liked the burgundy. They liked the color along with the offset piping in the interior and the clock!
Well, if your purpose is to impress the ladies, go with the burgundy! I think the convertible is also more "fun" for girls, whereas the sporty performance orientation of the GS might be more "fun" for a guy.
I didn't even notice the clock and others. Real men don't care about interiors *coming from a Porsche driver* LMAO
Dale is a true pimp. He is like the guys down south, who carries the pimp cup!!! Dale, where is your pimp cup??! LMAO. He doesn't need to impress the ladies, hes got the market cornered.
