Discussion to add Athens, Greece to the F1 calendar, Cancun underway, Moscow in the works.

So if a 16-19 race schedule is to be maintained, which venues will be left off the future schedule?

Kill Hockenheim, er they already did when they changed the track, boring boring boring. I wouldn't miss Hungary either. Magny Cours, although you do need a race in france.

I never liked the idea of two GPs in one country.
    - Hockenheim might have killed itself financially.
    - Imola looks like a third world country GP compared to today's F1 standards.
    - I believe there is talk to finish up Hungary, which is why I'm planning to see the 07 GP there as long as it is around.

I can't imagine F1 without a race in its birthplace. I don't think Silverstone will ever fall off the calendar, regardless of what Bernie might say/bluff.

USGP, especially after the wasteland 2006 is going to be. Come on, who schedules that race on July 4 weekend?

That weekend is traditionally spoken for by family events for a vast majority of Americans, including race fans. I already know several from my area that went last year and will not make the trip this year due to that scheduling. If the event were regularly sold out, then that weekend would be fine, but that's not the case.

There are any Americans attending the USGP?
    :)

I see your point. I thought it is actually helpful to have a holiday weekend for this, but yes, this can go the other way too. I guess they had not much of a choice in their scheduling with combining it with Canada and dancing around the World Cup Soccer. And seriously, there are so many Europeans coming to this race that it might not matter that much.

Because they moved the USGP from Father's Day weekend to July 4 weekend, I will now be able to attend again. Tried being away once on Father's Day, and realized my priorities were off. The race is on Sunday, July 2, so it still leaves time for family events. Many people will be off work Monday in addition to Tuesday, July 4.

I think it will work to Indy's benefit. All the major hotels in that area are already filled.

Although I agree with you in general, that fact might not be a real indicator: They just played their dirty old game of blocking the dates. Indy is notorious for this; it drives me mad. Jack up the price, I can understand that, but don't just block reserve the entire weekend so nobody can book individual travel.

It is very outdated, but just for Aqua Minerali and Rivazza, it must stay-- those are 2 of the best corners in the world, even if you can't pass.

I've read that Germany may go to an alternate-track setup like Britain used to have. They would run Hockenheim and the Nurburgring in alternate years, only one race per year.

Hungary has to go, it may be technically challenging for the drivers skills its very very boring to watch.
Imola lost its charm after they got rid of Tamburello.

Look the US GP wont disappear, the fans that goto the track only represent less than 10% of the total revenue made on a GP weekend(after TV rights etc), they could run the race solely with no fans if they really wanted to.
Anyway the rules have changed this year with tyres it would be impossible for a repeat performance, some fans would of been scared off last year, but the true F1 fans will return.

The Spanish GP is another boring GP, with minimal race action. Its celebrating 50GP's this year, but with Alonso as WC I cant see this GP leaving us anytime soon.

Germany and Italy both have 2 GP's so they can afford to lose one each to make way for other countries.

The British GP tho has been on the cards, wouldn't really help F1 if it was to go since the majority of teams are in UK. Maybe look at returning to Brands Hatch.

At the rate things are going, there won't be any F1 races left in Europe. The series will go to countries that let you advertise whatever you want.

I wouldn't mind Brands Hatch, but really the changes they have made at Silverstone have been decent- the Copse Maggotts Becketts Chapel section is amazing, the cars change direction so quick though there. They should bring back the old Stowe and Club though.
