    :)

Actually, I've decided I don't want one that badly....... I'm gonna wait for 2.0, which I reckon will include a camera - Video chat is one of the killer apps for me.

    Cheers,
    Ian

do you really do that much video chatting? i don't, even though i have always had the capability with webcams. it's overblown nonsense, and don't forget, the other person will need the same capability and at least some tech savvy. after all that, what do you get? the same conversation as before. have you really had that many misunderstandings and missed nuances that would have been avoided if you had been actually looking at the person on a video screen?

until tech support people get this stuff and can demo what they want you to do, the best application for video chat seems to be teenage strip teases...if that's what you are after, more power to you.

to answer your question, i bought two 32 gb versions. i also plan on getting at least 3 32gb 3g versions (parents, siblings, etc.) as well. it's a fun product to use, it's immensely useful, and it's sleek and cheap. what's not to like?

Typically, a few hours a week - I'm in CA, and my boys are in London & Birmingham in the UK - We quite often 3-way video chat, and it works great..... Does it add anything over audio only? - Absolutely - Particularly when one of 'em renders me a grandpa! [This is likely to happen pretty soon.....]

I actually preferred an external cam to the built in - Can grab the camera and point it at "whatever" without lugging the entire laptop (open of course) around - A camera equipped iPad would suit me very well.....

Is it a show stopper? Not really. But, I really don't need one that badly right now - I'll wait.

    Cheers,
    Ian

If it's fixed to the ipad, as it looks like it will be, then you will have to move the ipad around to get the camera pointed right...which might make it difficult to look at the screen.

I can see how it would be important to you, with grandkids. I think you'd be better off moving them closer.

16gb wifi. I have storage space enough in my computers and not going to use it much outside. At home it's simply wonderful. I use it to watch videos, browse web, email, games.. The form factor is perfect an it just works. I think it's gonna change the rules. Best hardware piece ever.

I ordered a 32gb ipad w/ 3G. I'm planning on turning off my iPhone and using the iPad to work from (I'm an IT Guy for several large hospitals/clinics) My biggest problem has been the phone portion of the iPhone, so I will switch to Verizon and use a regular phone or another smart phone. Which will give my clients a much better way to get ahold of me. I'll just carry the iPad around with me and use RDP to do most of my work. I'm actually rather excited to get it and I hope it comes in sometime early next week.

It's even more useless when you want to do something on the internet and you see the stupid "Flash is Required"

I just wanted to transfer money using my Bank of America account. The lack of Flash at this point is annoying. What good is the iPad if I have to put it down and pick up my laptop to do something. Steve Jobs may say Flash is the past ... fine, but all I wanted to do was use my bank's website and I couldn't even do that, let alone all the other missing Flash content.

And before you say BofA has an app for the iPhone/iPad ... fine, but they didn't build in the feature of transferring money from an account you hold outside of the Bank of America. So you have to use the website.

Just got my 3G...............so far, very cool. Have never been an Apple fanboy, always had Pee See's.But i gotta say ,it is a great piece of technology. Not perfect,i.e. can't listen to Pandora while surfing the web, etc. But so far as a web portal device,it's pretty cool.No one really needs this, but this is FerrariChat.Last time i checked no one really NEEDED a Ferrari :). It's all about want V. need IMO.Just another toy,but a cool one .

That lack of functionality (3rd party app multi-tasking) will be corrected when the iPad firmware is updated after the summer.
