I'm looking to purchase a 1/12 Enzo metal die cast. I want to get your opinion on which is a better quality brand between Kyosho and Tamiya. Thanks for your help.

Bought it for a bargain on a local auctionsite. $185
Its an amazingly good constructed model, as is their 1:12 F40. Both are beauties!
They are the only 2 diecast models I have.

    but.....
The rear wheels of the Enzo are badly mounted. the axles where the wheelnut screws onto, are to short to get good grip!
I keep it under a dustcover, and its not visible, but they fall of easily.

Paint is superb but extremely fragile. to delicate to my taste, panel edges chip easily by opening and closing a door or enginecover.

I may have bought a preproduction model or an early one with production faults.
    Still, I love it!

The F40 is one of the very best models ever built, the Enzo is not far behind in terms of quality and detail.

I have the Kyosho F40 and it is great model, tho lacking some detail.
If you are strictly talking about the Enzo then Go with the Tamiya. Main concern collectors have is that it is nor entirely made os diecast. Well The engine and suspension parts are made of metal wile the rest is made from composite resins. People are *****ing and moaning about the model being too light to the feel. However, from pure point of being prototypically correct - it is spot on. Besides you are not going to use it to work out your biceps.
It has better finish, better looking wheels and tires and it is better detailed. And if you don't believe me try removing all the belly panels on the Kyosho.

Kyosho's F40 is PERFECT, if the Enzo is that good I'd so go with that!

I've got the the Kyosho F40 and the Tamiya Enzo (and F50) - The Kyosho F40 is a an awesome and solid model. The Tamiya Enzo has better detail than the Kyosho (the Kyosho's tires' sidewalls are blank for Pete sake!) - The one drawback I have heard is that the Tamiya Enzo is a bit fragile, being constructed of metal and plastic and several people have had breakage on arrival and assembly. Mine arrived in great shape (from over seas no less) and wet together without issue. If I had it to do all over again, I'd still choose the Tamiya over the Kyosho...

............Except for the Tamiya Enzo. You can remove even the center panel under the body and check out the plumbing going to the engine from the radiators in the front, then if you like you can remove the entire panel under the rear engine to see all the chassis and engine detail from underneath. Everything is there.

As far as the F40 is concerned, it is the best available, but is completely missing any plumbing/cooling for the turbos and half the plumbing for the dry sump. Not to mention that in some examples you can notice some difference in the shade of red between the separate body panels. It is however one of my favorite models. I believe a lot of people feel this way about it just because they are partial to the real car.

    hi
i have the kyosho f40 and the enzo and i think the every bit as good as tamiya.
also remember they are scale models not the real thing.
if we want perfection we should buy the real thing.

I believe that the Tamiya Enzo is now sold out. If you have a dealer that has one I would buy it now before they get too scarce and too expensive!!

Both kyosho and Tamiya Enzo's are getting less available through dealers and shops.
but....I rarely buy models from dealers, and mainly collect extremely rare ferrari's.
These models will never become really rare. to many were made..(personal opinion, I don't collect diecast)
They will pop up on Ebay and local auction-sites regularly, and who knows, you even end up paying less.
(Both my F40 and Enzo were much cheaper than the prices I see in shops and websites).

advice: only buy these models with the original packing. Styrofoam box, and 2 cardboardboxes are the only way they will survive transport by mail undamnaged

Well I could really care less about a few missing wires. As said above, it is a model. Hidden wires under panels really make no sense to me. I would have rathered they skipped those extra hidden wires and lowered the cost LOL.

By the way, I see you have more then one F40. Besides the Kyosho, what are the other three?

Well, 3 of them are Kyosho , in 1:12, 1:18 and 1:43. All 3 are stunning. All 3 have pretty much the same problems, but I still love them. The 1:24 is a Tamiya kit that I build years ago and have more detail than any of the other 3.

Got ya, I have the Kyosho F40 "Light Weight" 1/12 and a Herpa F40 1/43. Out of my 25+ models, they are my number 1 and 2 favs.

You have any closeups of the kit you made?
