    Hi,

Our winters here in MN have calmed down a little in the last few years and we find ourselves traveling a fair bit on day/weekend trips in moderate conditions. While it's not the worst thing to drive around in an AWD SUV for 1/2 of the year it would be nice to travel with a little bit of style given the opportunity. We find ourselves in conditions I feel a C4 could handle easily with properly equiped tires and would be much more fun.

Is there any advantage to getting a C4 with one or the other trans for light winter driving? My common sense would say the TIP is the choice for smoother power application and less potential wear and tear on the clutch (due to trying to regulate power), but having never driven one I obviously can't say.

    Thanks

I'd worry more about ground clearance.

Having lived in Cleveland for ~30 years, I'd say an automatic is better, but as you must know (being in Duluth) it's more about gradual application of the throttle and brakes. An automatic can make it easier to modulate.

I had a 911 (996 varaint) IN THE NORTH EAST. My car was a manual. I found that winter tires made a huge difference. I do not remember trying all deason tries.

I would prefer a manual for snow driving. In my view much easier to control and rock the car when stuck. But that only be my bias for manuals.

With the engine in the rear it is a very good winter car.

    Good luck

I have never lived where you are, but to take last winter as an axample a C4 would not have gone through 80% of the storms we had. It would have bottomed out
