Fair enough. However, I'm with JC on this one; The only guy behind him was Fred. He knew (or had a pretty good idea) that he was gonna put it on pole. So he parked the car. Unsportsmanlike? No doubt. [According to many here, the "sport" went out of F1 when Gold Leaf arrived of course.......] He *almost* got away with it too.... Sure, telemetry showed different, but that he claimed otherwise (initially) was simply in the "heat of the moment". He was then *heavily* penalised (Back of the grid, in Monaco of all places!), took the penalty and moved on. Apart from him, nobody (AFAIK?) has been sent to the back for trying to "block" other guys - Kimi got 3 spots, the Rev got 5 etc etc. Was he out of line? Sure. Was it the most egregious thing to have ever happened in F1? Not IMO. Cheers, Ian
This. It's a team sport and the team must *always* come above the individual - 3xWDC, rookie, whoever, the *team* is the key. The old adage that "a house divided against itself cannot stand" comes to mind here. I'm starting to suspect that the wheels may have fallen off the Cans. *No* driver, no matter how successful, can/should *ever* put himself above the team - Pure poison. Cheers, Ian
+1 Hadn't even thought of it that way TBH!..... A 'split' garage is a terrible thing. Fingers crossed. Cheers, Ian
Would never have happened at McLaren I'm sure Hamster and Fred never locked horns, that was a fun year ..... for the Tifosi
