I do not know the worst cars but the least troublesome IMO is the 328 and 550

Many years ago, I had my local Indy mechanic tell me that if all his customers drove 328’s he’d be bankrupt.

That same mechanic told a hilarious story about a customer who ignored his advice about slowly breaking in a newly rebuilt engine in a completely restored 275 GTS. At a dinner / event he introduced the owner to his daughter and told her “You need to thank this man. He just paid for your next two years of college.”

That’s just sad and insane. I really though after they started putting in access panels, they were accepting that engine outs and the like for simple belt services were just ridiculous.

Ya... But... Try to sell a 250 GTO with modern built Webber's and modern wire wheels and modern headlights...

That's when you find out how much a set of fog lights can cost.

Just paid 8k dollars for a date code correct car. For a Shelby ... A carb for 289 is less than 800 bucks.

(I know you of all people know this so this isn't exactly directed at you just adding some further context to the convo)

I have been saying stuff like this about modern cars for sometime now.
.everyone thinks an 8k service in a 355 is expensive...

Buy one turbo for 488... And you could have a few decades of 355 engine outs.

Same with that valve cover job! Holy crap I didn't realize you had lock the cams to pull the damn valve.covers. That's crazy.

yup. upper cam bearing "shells" are part of the valve cover. If you remove the cover without locking down the cams, your are in for a world of hurt. its a ridicuolse process.

I wish that were true. I really do. But me being a tech, there is just too much liability involved working on the newer turbo stuff. Even a simple oil change is an exercsise in stupidity with having to remove the entire under panels just to gain access to the drain plugs. Its not worth it. But that started with the 458. The 360/430 had access plugs from the factory. 458 and forward do not. It adds at least 2hrs to the job to remove and install those panels. If people insist, i'll do it, but you are going to pay. I didnt design the car but, you bought it.

That seems like the absolute dumbest ****ing thing that has been thought of since plastic water impellers on water pumps and nonservicable IMS bearings on Porsches even after they knew they had a problem

And Rule #2- NEVER, EVER tell the wife.

Breaking Rule # 2 will cost you double when she wants to spend the same amount on something really dumb.

I was considering to get FF as my daily, but that's probability one of the most maintenance/repair dependent car Ferrari recently made. I don't really like 612.

I have a fully equipped garage with lift and plenty of DIY skills but the parts costs is what scares me the most.
