    Hi

I removed both my O2 sensors for testing and now I am not able to see which should be on the left exhaust and on the right. Anyone got an Idea how I can tell which should be right and left? As far as I can see I can not trace the wires up into the car.

    Regards. Ole Andreas

    Ole,
I believe they are the same left and right but different upstream (front) and downstream (rear) of the cat converter, so that is your challenge which one goes upstream.
The downstream one I have in my hand as we speak and the number on the body is 0 258 003 820.
    Hope this helps,
    Ron

    Hi Ron

    Thank you for your answer

The downstream sensors I have not removed, but I removed both the upstream once, and what I need to know now is which of the cables coming down from the var that should be connected to the right side 02 sensor and which to the left. Hope this picture can explain. I can not see any visual differences on the cables coming out of the car. (This picture was taken when I removed them so I would know which cable was right and left, but it was not easy to see when I should put it back again)

Hmmm, I would say the cable that goes down from the driver side ECU1 , down the driver side of the engine goes to the driver side of the cat. converter, does that help?
Passenger side has its own ECU2 and cable.
    Does that help?

    Ole,
see 19 (rear sensor) and 15 (front sensor) in attached diagram, notice how left and right side run down bell housing, first parallel together, then they separate.
Also fuse 2 = bank 1-6 (passenger side) and fuse 7 = bank 7-12 for sensor heating so you could remove say fuse 2 and look for voltage on the 2 white wires to see which is driver side when ignition first turned on.
    Voila !
