    Hello,

I am new to the forum, although I have been a Ferrari Fan for coming on 50 years.

This will be my first Ferrari. I have owned Alfa's, Porsches, Mercedes and others, but nothing is like a Ferrari!

I have test driven several late model Ferrari's a 2020 Portofino and a 2019 488GTB. I was very attraced to the 488 due to the style and rear engine, but ended up loving the drive of the Portofino. To me, plenty of sportiness combined with a bit more luxury and the convertable top is amazing.

I am planning on purchasing from an authorized dealer and a Ferrari Authorized if possible. This will be an occasional driver as I live in the PNW where the weather is good about 1/2 of the year.

My question is there are several 2020's available. All around the same price $189k to $215k, but vary in milage from about 2k to 20k. Is there a better strategy for buying? Or just buy based upon service, owners, options and color? I love the Red and Black colors.

I will keep for a couple of years and then likely upgrade so hope to hold descent value while enjoying the Prancing Horse!

Thank you in advance for any helpful comments.

    Thomas

Buy the one you love. Me personally would stay away from super low mileage. I did that once with a 430 spider and cost me a small fortune. I would also look for one without a GPF filter and one with the extended warranty. The cars without the GPF sound much better. I bought my 2019 Porto 3 years ago with 5k miles. It’s my daily driver and now has 15k miles. Only issue was an AC leak , binacle leather was replaced and the passenger display screen crapped out. All fixed under warranty. Get the one you want 10-15k difference who cares.

Thank you! This was along my thinking and what the salesperson said as well. The 2020 Rosso Corso has just about every option available and was purchased originally at the dealer it's at now. They have been great and patient with me. The local dealer has been around since 1966.
I can't tell if it has a GPF from anything on-line - any way to verify other that talk with them (most of them are in Italy for the 7/1 event for the Roma replacement).

Thank you again, i am more than excited! I think it will be a wonderful 4th of July!

I just asked AI. The GPF was introduced in September 2020 on the Porto M. Looks like you are good to go. What options are on the Roso 2020 ? And color interior ? Miles ?

Thanks again, didn't think of the AI, haven't really used it much yet! See below. 17,070 miles. Sold locally and at the same dealer. All service on time. The interior is Nero with custom stitching/piping in red or matching. Has the battery stabilizer/charger also. I drove it twice. Once "nice" in auto trans mode and once aggressive (mountain type road with sharp curves) in paddle mode. Love that! I certainly appreciate all of the cars I have had leading up to this, but this car is in a whole different world. I do like the Porto a lot more than I did the 488. T

They normally priced on spec , the higher spec the more you will pay
I’d go for the highest spec you can, especially Carbon exterior, jbl sound system
I looked for years to get the right used spec then one day it appeared and just had to have it , you can alway try get a better deal on the one you find

Here's something to think about: if you're going to put real miles on it, you probably want to buy a higher mile car and spend a little less. You'll have more depreciation doubling the miles on a car vs raising it 10%.

Ultimately, though -- go buy the one you like best. After all, you are the one that has to look at it daily.

Hi - out of interest, what happened to the binacle leather? Any pictures please?

Unfortunately I have no photos. It basically shriveled up. F Tampa handled the fix as it was covered in my warranty. It looks perfect now.

A fairly common problem on Ferraris. The factory doesn't put enough overlap on the leather when they build the car. If it sits in a hot sunny environment, the leather binnacle cover can shrink and pull out on the edges. My Cali T had this fixed under warranty before I bought it.

That car looks nice but black interior? I would go for beige or cuoio, personally.

If able, get a Portifino M. I upgraded from a California T, big difference.

Thank you! I think I have found the perfect car. 2019 Portofino, 7k miles, Ferrari Approved with quite a bit of pre-sale work completed. Rosso Mugello, Cuoio Interior, nice package of original items. Under $200k with 1/2 paid of the CPO for 2 years.

    Do I need the CPO?

Super excited, should know today if its a go or not.

they have to give a 1 year warranty over there here in uk they incude 2 years
So you could just go with the free 1 year warranty.
When you find the right one go for it

Thank you! Good info. Kind of confusing, even on the Ferrari Website.
