I'm still looking for a nice convertible Ferrari. The 360 spyders are very nice & have every modern convenience 355 spyder isnt bad either though Then theres the crazy Straman Testarossas which are the most beautiful but maybe the hardest to live with Thought about an MB 55SL but thats way too discrete for me although an E Type roadster is always shagadelic
Also an SL600..with 2 chips (less then 6k) you can bump power up to over 500 and over 600fl-lbs of torque...at the wheels.
its cool but for 1/3 the $ I could get a TR roadster which is just as good looking Also Ive been hearing bad things about Murc reliability, Imagine that an unreliable Lambo LOL
Yes but you look like every other banker, lawyer, accountant, or Dr with a regular 500SL, wheres the fun in that ?
William, a buddy of mine just purchased an '04 360 Spider identical to the one you posted in the pic...same color combo, wheels, red calipers, shields, etc. It is awesome in every respect...especially the TDF blue/tan color! He opted for the 6-speed as he already has a '99 Euro 360 F-1 Modena. However, he paid just over $200k for the spider. The TR drop-top would certainly leave a lot of spare change in that price range ; and, IMHO, be just as awesome (of course I'm just biased to the TR). One observation I had about the 360 automatic convert. top -- it looks like some sort of praying mantis contraption while in operation as it's folding under the panel covers, but it's smooth, quiet and very well designed. BTW, have you seen the '03 Fioranno Red/Dk. Tan 6-speed 360 Spider (4k miles) for $215k at www.naplesmotorsports.com ? Very nice!
Will; although the Italian alphabet doesn't have a 'Y', Ferrari has called a lot of their race and road cars 'Spyders'; however, beginning with the 348, the called it a 'Spider'... On topic with your thread: i thought you made up your mind about the TR Spyder/Roadster...? That thing is bad ass and there aren't too many around... As Andrew said, it would really round out your Testarossa personality: TR road car, TR racecar and now a TR open top... That would be awesome... Forget all this other **** - get a topless TR...!
The "spider" spelling only started in the 80s Before that, they used the spelling "spyder." Thus, many feel it appropriate to use either spelling, as both have been used throughout Ferrari's history http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24806 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15797 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11205 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2036
Spyders were small buggies. The spider spelling is an error, passed along to production. No idea why. They are still spyders in my book. I'd wait on a 360 unless it's cheap. Values going to drop with 430, so get a nice 355 if you must. Z8's have lousy resale(ask me how I know) but are nice cars, easier to use than my 360 was. You have F40, so get cruisemobile. SL's just too common for the $. SL65 and chipped 600 are great, but the money is idiotic. Image Unavailable, Please Login
