So which city/merto area has the most F owners? i'm guessing Dallas as it has more activities or is it they're just more active than everyone else?

I think for sure the DFW metroplex has more than Houston metroplex, but if you can't count Plano, Highland Park, and University Park... Dallas by itself may have less than Houston. I don't think you can do public registration searches anymore, but last time this was done 10 years ago or so there were 500+ Ferraris in the DFW metroplex. Rodney and Marci can confirm these numbers as they pulled the search.

I would think D/FW metroplex has the most.

I'm surprised by how much there are in the Austin & San Antonio area.

    Texas!
You guys in Dallas are definitely prettier than us working slobs in Houston. But I seriously doubt that there are more Ferraris in the Metro plex simply because Mr. Risi has been selling in Houston longer than Dallas. Moreover, the hard core in Houston are a secretive bunch. They almost never come to a FCA event. Plus, I'm pretty sure that they don't register their cars in their own name.

Just to give an example, I walked into the main bay at FOH this morning and saw (2) F430 Challenge cars, (1) F50, (1) F40, (1) 288 GTO, (1) 348, and (2) 360s. I didn't even go near the race shop or the paint shop.

Plus, I have heard rumors of at least one "Bat Cave" that is full of Ferraris.

I’m going to have to agree with Dale on this one. Houston is a port city, back in the 80’s I remember seeing a lot of gray market cars being brought in & converted to US DOT specifications near my father's warehouse. Lots of people involved in real estate, oil, shipping, etc... own large, private collections. Most of us know there out there, but some remain not to be found for good reason & don't get involved with car club social functions.

    I think Houston comes close.

If only there was a DFW Ferrari Spotters thread then maybe we could make a more 'accurate' guess based upon posts. :)

EDIT: oops, didn't scroll all the way to the bottom, nevermind.

i would bet houston has more cars. dallas may seem like it does, but people from the dfw area drive their cars more often than houstonians. plus, factor in the number of cars that are in houston, either stored or otherwise, that belong to wealthy mexican citizens that don't keep the cars in mexico for obvious reasons. occasionally you will see the cars make a rare appearance, but not often.

as for sales, ferrari's have been sold in dallas long before mr. risi took over the dealership and called it ferrari of dallas. remember classic owned the ferrari dealership for a good number of years.

Isn't there an attorney in Houston that has hundreds of high dollar luxury/exotic cars?

That cave is amazing. I was in it several times and just stood in amazement at all the cars. It looked like the warehouse in "Gone in 60 seconds" except most of them are Ferraris..........288GTO, 275 GTB, several 512BB and BBI and about 60 others. In an out of the way place that is hard to find........

The outgoing FCA-Houston president once told me that there are ~350 Ferraris in the Houston area and 250 of those cars are club members. Granted some members have more than one.

If those numbers are right, D/FW at 550 does indeed have more cars/owners.

Does the Jerry J. Moore collection still include dozens of Ferraris and a few Duesenbergs? It did according to a magazine article I read about 15 years ago. I don't think there is any collector in the DFW area that could come close. I'll bet Houston has more historic cars. Houston's old money vs. DFW's nouveau riche.

Mr Moore did at one time but from what I understand the collection has been liquidated.

Can you say awl, boy? Texas tea...

Houston is the place to make the stuff.

Dallas is the place to spend it.
