Wondering what’s more desirable, glass us spec GTB or a steel body euro dry sump GTB?

I think the glass car is the holy grail of the 308 line.

Actually, that is an easy one. Read above, dry sump or not. ;)

The true holy grail is a Euro glass because of the dry sump. Some floated in to the US "in the day".

If the Euro is to be registered in California then you may have more difficulties. Even people hear on the board talk of the difficulties of getting a regular US spec car with carbs to pass CA smog.

All the glass cars have a higher value because of the very limited production.

Keep in mind that driving a dry sump means more warm up time and unless you do a lot of track time the benefits of dry versus wet may not be very relevant.

Of the two choices the dry sump is preferable for track use, the steel body is tighter and easily repaired, the Euro lacks crash bars in doors and has lighter bumpers..

The 'glass factor of the North American spec car would not outweigh the items above, IMO all other things equal..

The eight point distributor of the Euro is an expensive item to maintain, no doubt about that..

As Jeff says the way you plan to use the car weighs into the dry sump question as well, you can overfill the wet sump by 2 quarts for rare track use if needed.

    Thanks guys,
The car wont be tracked, but will be used for spirited canyon drives and time to time show the car @ events.

Hard to go wrong between the two...a NON CAT car saves a lot headaches..

You didn't say what year the Euro example was....they were NON CAT thru 1980.

    Hello,
I have a 1977 Euro Fibreglass and have just fitted a Pertronix electronic ignition to the single distributor set up and cannot recommend it high enough, easy to fit and set up and no further expense or fiddling with two sets of points.
If you receive the same level of service as I did from Mark at the UK Supplier you will not be disappointed as the advice and help was exceptional.
    Regards,Tom

Which version is best? That's easy. The one you own.

Did the cat cars start in 78'? Also was there a change in compression and cams at the same time?
