I would like to think mine will be one of the most sought after. As a past president of the Viper Club of America (Years ago) I saw many Vipers wrecked due to the lack of ABS and Traction Control (AKA "drivers"). The theory is that 2 out of 3 were wrecked in the early generations. Mine is a 97' TR/10 Blue and White. This is the only year they build a Blue and White RT/10. Smooth hood and 1 of 53, with mine being the last one out of the factory. There is a one (1) solid blue 97' RT/10 out there somewhere. Image Unavailable, Please Login
great list. I also think the white and blue shelbish cars may be collectible. Possibly a McViper A gold wheel 97 would be a cool one to collect. I also think a 98 ACR in Silver with Blue stripes might be a good one too. Low production... Never duplicated Maybe I am just a viper nut
Was green offered in '92? I thought the 250 or so '92 cars were all red and green came later 94/95 or so?
I've had 2 Vipers and liked both but really loved my Gen 4. The Gen 2 was nice to look at but the driving experience was a bit truck like. The Gen 4 was really miles ahead, however, the design was a bit bland. Having said that, I still love it and want to get another some day. As far as potential collector Vipers: 92, GT2, Gen 2 Coupes (especially B/W), Gen 2 ACR, Gen 4 ACR, Gen 5 TA, Gen 5 ACR. Any Viper is a "limited" and "1 of bla bla bla" but that's because they didn't make too many of each.
If Vipers ever curry favor among collectors they will all take off, as total Viper Production since 1992 is about one year of Vette production. Goes to show now unloved the cars are when Porsche and Ferrari can crank out far more of even GT3 and 355/360/430/458 each year and sell at a premium.
True, which is one reason the Corvette fell out of favor with me when they started cranking out 40,000 C5s a year. There was no exclusivity anymore. But look at Lamborghini.....it took a long time for those to be considered collectible despite TRULY miniscule production. At that same period of time, they were only hand-building 200 Diablos a year. My car, which was a one-year-only design only had 142 units built but took 15 years to start moving up off the bottom of the depreciation scale. So rare Vipers (under 1,000 units) will eventually find homes in collector garages. Choose wisely.
Hello all- I picked up a 1998 viper gts, black with white stripes, 20,xxx original miles. It is currently at the local Doge dealer having their viper specialist go over everything prior to me selling it. If anyone is interested in it, please DM me (or call- (410)913-0300). Have only a few ****ty cell phone pics, but will get better ones soon. I'm thinking car should be worth @ 40k. Best Mike
