Looking to add to the stable. I have a 85 308 euro and am looking to add for investment as well as fun. My question is, what year and model does averyone think will be worth the most one day. The 355 is sure to be a collectible and was ahead of it's with regards to stylin and performance IMO.

Which is the stand out year and model configuartion? The GTS is the rarest but eventually they will all be rare. Which color will most sought after?
    Giallo? Tour de france? Silver?

Oh boy. This has been discussed a lot. A quick search will turn up some interesting reads. It is my opinion and that of my well know Ferrari mechanic, that the 1995 is the best year. There are a number of reasons, most notably the 2.7 Bosch system. some will claim that late 98 and 99 cars are imune to valve guide issues but this is simply not true. All 355s, even the last 100 off the line carry the potential to have the bronze guides. (348's have these too)

As for color, resale red works well but simply buy what YOU like. These cars are unlikely to be investments. They made a lot and they cost a lot to maintain. Buy one and enjoy the best looking lines on post 1980s production Ferrari.

This has been discussed many many times. I like the 95's the best! ;);)

Not too sure if they will EVER be collectable mate. They simply made too many of them IMO. :):)

I would buy the model/colour/gearbox combo that you like best and enjoy yourself! :):)

Agree with dreamer that the 348/355 line are unlikely to be investment type cars. Get the one you like and get the history with the valve guides on that particular car to make sure you are ok...if you want a dark red one, I think the guy in post #2 may be someone to speak with :p

    The spiders are GREAT!

Pluses: Hard to beat top down on sunny day. Almost no wind for a convertible since you sit low. With top up, lines almost identical to coupe, one of best looking top up convertibles ever. Handling is superb with minimal body flex for a convertible.

Minuses: Some mechanical issues on some examples, and expensive to fix. Overly engineered and unnecessarily complex. Can't track without rollcage which can't really be put in without disabling top mechanism. Some wind noise at high speed with top up (as all convertibles have). Fairly small rear sight field with top up.

Bottom line, they are the best for nice weather driving. Every Ferrari fan needs a RED one at least once and a SPIDER at least once! GTS may be best of both worlds, but are definitely rarer. See my profile picture for a wonderful example. BTW, it's a 1995, the BEST year!

with only 1,042 made, I'd say the most attainable and collectible 355 will have to be the F1 Berlinetta.

If you like the 'vert and rarity, go for a 6-speed Fiorano Spider, they only made 4 or so with a manual gearbox.

    I like my '98 F1 B the best, though!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Absolutely, F1 GTB is the way to go!!! and for an added bonus no valve guide worries on late '98's and '99's ;)

The 355 WILL be a collectible. It'll just have to be a low-mileage one.

The 355 will go down with at least the same adulation as the 328. The 355 was the best car in its time, a car that was way ahead of its time, and one that raised the bar for every sports car manufacturer.

Not to mention it is one of the most universally admired sports cars, not to mention one of the most universally loved Ferraris, ever built.

Trust me when I say this.........that is one of the cheapest 355 Berlinetta that I have seen for sale in Australia in a LONG time!! Probably the cheapest ever, that was still a good car.:eek:

We get ****ed over big time on import cars here in Australia. AU $139K is a GREAT price for that car!! Well, obviously in these 'bad' economic times you can probably score a better deal from the dealer/seller. :D:D

6 months ago, that car would have been for sale for around AU $170K!!:eek:

And thanks Scotty, if American Ferraris were RHD, I would ship them over by the dozen! :p:p

Here is the current list of 355's for sale in Aus. ;);)
